Well you see if there were a God wed be here for his amusement if you understand because when we didnt exist we didnt dream of existing and having life well its pretty torturous, even like our quest for understanding because well we die we never get to know those answers. Plus a God that will punish you for not believing in him well thats just egotistical, having lived a moral life and done no harm i am cast to hell for not believing in Gods existence? whats up with that, he already won he exists!

Furthermore, the whole cast out of eden/paradise for eating from the tree of knowledge isnt the bible blatantly saying ignorance is bliss?

If God really does exist and there really is a heaven and hell, would you really want to risk not believing? What do you have to lose by believing? You have much more to gain.

I agree with you, I would not want the xtian god to exist. As a product of the human imagination, gods often reflect the human qualities of their inventors, including many of the worst human faults. The god of the xtian old testament, in particular, was a cruel, mean, vengeful, spiteful, capricious egomaniac. It's no wonder a lot of the free bibles handed out by more mainstream churches are only the new testament; even to some xtians, the OT god is a bit of an embarrassment.
That said, from what I know about other religions I can't say that there are any other gods I'd wish to exist either. I think it's time that we as a species got around to maturing, and stop believing in all these mythologies of the past.

I don't think God is there for you to "want" him to exist. He either does, or he doesn't.
The belief in god is up to the believer. Perhaps a better question might be: "why would I want to believe in a god like this?"
If that is the case, I recommend you talk to a pastor or a Christian friend; religious matters like this are difficult to sort out via an internet discussion, and can quickly degrade into a debate that has nothing to do with the question.

Some would propose that we don't have any options in the matter and whether we want God to exist or not doesn't matter because he does. End of Story. This is a touchy subject for those others who would consider it though.
If God were a person, would you want him as a friend? I mean, sure, he's passionate about what he does and he's got a big heart but he also gets REALLY p.o.'d when things don't go his way. If God were a parent, would you want him as your father? He wouldn't just ground you and spank your butt when you disobeyed you, he would make you miserable for all eternity for even thinking about disobeying him. Those are things to consider when you are dealing with something that wouldn't just be your friend and/or father but have complete and total control over you and your entire existence.

God gave you the energy to ask this question, and gave us the energy to try and answer it. This question brings an analogy to mind, It's like a very well crafted, detailed tool wondering if it got made by accident, while the craftsman is still even holding it in his hand.
God is inside and outside of us. A simple clue, time is measured by the movement of the planet's. Sometimes we think time costs money but time costs energy and causes friction. See god as the all permeating center in matter and anti matter making it possible for energy to be transferred. God is not here to judge, people do that, god makes things possible.
About christian god..simple there is one sun but different people look at it and have their own individual thoughts about it. It's the same with god. There is only one, and he is inside you and outside you.

i remeber asking my father so many questions when I was very young...where butterflies are from etc.. Once he said that every thing comes from God after I had asked too many questions I asked "What comes after god"? He said nothing god is all that there is . That was extremely unsatisfying...I would not want a God for that reason...where did he come from?who was his god? and so on really a huge waste of time and energy

God has nothing to do with the Christian Bible. if that God existed, i would be in hell right now and the world would be covered in fire and brimstone, with the believers raptured up to this Heaven of theirs. i want no part of that fantasy world

The one who is at times petty and cruel, who overtly says that he hates people before they were even born, and who punishes all of mankind for things that they had nothing to do with? Yeah, I'll pass on that one.
I suspect nonetheless that there is a diety behind that particular theology, though it is one of highly suspect motives: a liar and an egomaniac. Fortunately, I believe that my other gods protect me from that one most of the time.
But that's me. You, of course, are free to believe what you like. Peace.

all we really can know... is that we really know nothing.
the only one who knows what god is like is god.
the bible... religion....they only give a glimpse of what god is truly like...
however, they don't define god...god defines them.
(oh and the answer to your question...personally, i believe god does and should exist...for many reasons...many of which i have found throughout my own life.)
