I feel that the system is failing us, because those who work and don't make enough money should be the one's who recieve some type of help either by the form of daycare or foodstamps or both. I am from the days that those who help themselves should be helped, than those who just have their hand out. What is your take on this subject?

I agree for the most part. I worked in the Food Stamp Office years ago. There were so many there, driving new cars, enjoying life, but getting food stamps because they did not WANT to work. Then there was a woman who came in to apply, she was about to be evicted for not paying her rent, had already lost her car, but she could not get food stamps because she was UNABLE to work due to poor health; she was in and out of the hospital, was to go in for surgery the next day (the day of eviction) and could not get any help at all.
One who did get good stamps had about a dozen kids, each by a different father; she got food stamps, AFDC, the works!
But, hey, remember that "child health" program the Dems are trying to force Bush to sign is more of the same; I mean, people who earn $83,000 a year don't need help for child health programs.
We need to go back to John Smith's admonition: No Work, No Eat.
But help those who need it, not the lazy ones.
Especially the Illegals!

I'm with the legend too many people abuse the system there are too many welfare bums out there. They need to give more of that money to people trying to go to school to better there lives. I know at least 10 people that are abusing the system and it sucks. I mean I work 2 jobs go to school to take care of my son and they sit on there *** don't try to find a job and live off the system what they need to do is force them to go with one of the people to different places to find a job. That will help them that's it period. I don't want to work 70 hours a week so some 32 year old virgin can collect his welfare check and play world of warcrack.

There are people who really need the assistance and there are people ready to scam any system or rip off anyone. It's possible that those instances of big cars etc. are driven by some who managed to scam the system. If you abolish welfare, you will remove this one avenue for the crooks but you also hurt the people who deserve it and who need it the most. I think its good to have a welfare system to aid those who truly deserve it; I think it's unfortunate that some greedy, crooked people make life miserable for the rest of society.
