the core of the earth is composed mostly of iron and other magnetic materials. the movement of the tectonic plates especially the subduction of plates maintains the heat at the molten center the purpose is to continually reheat the materials in the earths outer shell or crust. its gods way of recycling. not all or even many planets have such a core and cannot maintain life as we know it. without the arrangement we have here on earth there could be no life and that is the purpose of the molten core. think about it friend.

There isn't any fire in the center of the earth.

The center of the earth is a solid ball of nickel and iron. It's solid because of the weight of all of the stuff on top of it pushing it down - the same way that crushing a snowball in your hands makes it tiny, and ice.

Above that inner core is the outer core...it's very thick, like motor oil or, better yet, cookie batter. It flows around, but very slowly.

Above the outer core is what's called the mantle - this may be the "fire" that you're thinking of. The mantle is under a lot of pressure, so it's very hot (the weight of the earth above it). But it's not under enough pressure to be forced into a solid, so it's liquid instead. This liquid rock, magma, bubbles up through weak points in the earth's crust (volcanoes).

There isn't really a purpose to the earth's mantle being liquid - but there is a cause. The extreme weight of the rock above it makes it so hot that it melts some.

Anyway, not all planets have a structure like ours. If I recall correctly, earth is the most geologically active of all the planets in the solar system.

certainly there is a lot of heat at the centre of the earth. otherwise we would not be seeing volcanos. Purpose of this het is not the right way to put it. Rather you would have asked what's the reason. When planets formed they ere balls of extreme fire. Gradally ths fire cooled and formed a thick crust. But the inner core still remains hot. The same is the case with other planets.
