Let me add that they hang out all the time. It could make things awkward if you weren't on good terms with said sister, however, she has been not nice to you in any way, shape, or form.

Nasty sister is jealous of your friendship. Pity her, but realize the two sister's relationship is closer than your's will ever be. If you want to be friends with one, you'll have to accept the other's problems.

I would ask her to meet privately, over coffee most likely, and ask her why she didn't like me. I would explain to her that I know how close she and her sister are and that I was in no way trying to break up their friendship. Blood is thicker than water!

I would tell her that her sister is really great, and that I am sure she is too, if we could just get to know each other better things would surely work out.

If she didn't warm up to me after that, I would just be as polite as possible.

I have been in this type of situation before, there is nothing I can do to make the one sister like me. I just have to accept it and whenever I am sending gifts to the family I include her anyway. I am not a bad person, things were said that were misunderstood.

Good luck!

Whenever she's not nice to you, don't let it get you down, stand your ground and give it right back to her but not in a mean and nasty way, just in a way to let her know it's not cool to f--- with you. That way you could still keep your friendship with the good sister. People who are mean to others will keep doing it until you stand up to them and let them know with confidence that it's not cool. They will back off.

If your friend is a real friend then she will listen to you. So sit her down and tell her what's happening.
