who got knocked over and killed last night at 7pm on a motorway whilst crossing it. What i'd like to know is why the parents let them out to play at 7pm in woods alone? Surely the poor little lads should have been indoors at that time. Should the parents get done for neglect?

I did watch the news and it didn't say they had run away. Also the parents havenot suffered the boys did, the parents in my view have neglected them and they didnot live that near to the woods. what if they'd been abducted?? The woman on the news said she'd have taken them if she knew that they would have got hurt!!

awful thing to happen a lot of children played in those woods they must have got disoriented in the dark and tried to cross that motorway or dual carriageway
It's very true that there seems no where safe for children to play
That can't be right
I would think twice about living near a motorway, but then how often does this happen
What you are saying is that for children who are knocked down every day the parents should be done for neglect-not always
Children are knocked down every day in this country, the b****y cars are going too fast to stop
where is the freedom, a difficult one to answer without saying we have to lock them indoors till they grow up
They were called for at 5pm I thought
IWe should not have to live like this

I saw that report also,I think that this is such a terrible thing to happen, but also there isn't much facts or information to go by at the moment so I write this from what I know,I mean it's getting dark now at around 7pm,and mabe they are a close knit community but I can't understand how any children at that age can be 'playing in the woods' at the time infact at any time to me it's just to dangerous. Two young lives have been cut short, and may those children rest in Peace.

I have also just watched the news and contrary to what another user said I heard no mention of the fact that the children had run away. In fact the father of one of the poor little mites clearly states they were playing in the woods. Of course, my sympathy goes to the little boys, their family, and the car drivers who were involved in this tragedy.
However, I personally would not have allowed my child at that age to be playing unsupervised in the woods behind my home. Another example of why children at such a young age should be supervised, as tragedies like this happen. When will certain parents realise this and start to keep a better eye on their own children.

An earlier report which referred to an interview with the father, stated that he had told his son to be home by 5, and had previously instructed him not to go past a house (near the motorway) where a friend or relation was living. It appears that he disobeyed.
Should the parents get done? Will that put things right?

Did you see the Google Earth map on the news? That motorway was miles away from the house. I can't believe people could be so stupid to let a 6 and 7 year old stay out in the dark in the woods. They never heard of child abductors?

When the boys did not return by 5pm Mr Lambert and his brother and 12 neighbours went to find them. The accident happened at 7pm the parents were very concerned and responsible.

No...the woods were at the back of where they lived, it was getting dark and they obviously wanted to get back home and realised they were late.....the Father said he had warned them about the Motorway....what I want to know is how they got across to the other side of the motorway in the first place. It is a tragedy, not only for the Parents but for the poor motorists involved.
