The church is only feeding the poor, getting people back on their feet, and keeping people struggling with life from doing harm to the community. We are an asset to the community, and yet Code Enforcement has decided that meeting and praying outdoors on our own property is UNLAWFUL ASSEMBLY, and our food bank license does not permit us to give food to ANYONE! How should we deal with this kind of unamerican insanity?

Yes, they are probably all legally here. Most are just poor people, black, white, and brown. Many are drug addicts who would probably otherwise be robbing local homes. We are not political, and we don't have a regular interpreter.

We are properly zoned and licensed for everything we do. Our pastor does not yet want us to go public, but I don't think that can last much longer.

We, too would like to know the 'other side'. But nobody will TALK to us! Bob Buster refuses to see our pastor, and Code Enforcement won't say who has the problem with us. NONE of this makes sense.

Unfortunately, depending on the county or state, the supervisor may not have the ability to grant you guys a pass--not because he necessarily doesn't want to or because he has a thing against your church, but because he doesn't have the authority. It's ridiculous, it's bureaucratic, but it's the way things are.

Is anyone in your congregation a lawyer? Zoning laws and licenses can be very complicated. It's in your church's interest to have someone who intimately knows the issues to go to bat for you and to review any future licenses and zoning laws.

I sure would like to hear both sides of this story. Your "facts" do not appear to be balanced.

Why not get the proper permits to operate your food bank instead of whining about it?
