I have lived the experience. I'm Spanish and I lived in England for a while, what I missed the most was the food!! you know you can buy almost everything in the UK, but sometimes you felt like eating something you couldn't get there, specific sweets, or food cooked in a special way that you can only eat in an specific restaurant or at home!!

I just moved to the US in December here is what i missed of my home country (The Netherlands)
*family
*friends
*my bicycle and being able to ride safe
*the nice little shopping streets
*old buildings, churches ect

A few weeks ago I went back to visit my family&friends and yeah, i forgot how cramped it is, everybody smokes everywhere, the lines in the supermarket are crazy long and the train or bus never comes on time.
Im cured of my homesickness for a little while ;-)

My Father was in the military while I was growing up. We lived abroad for many years, several places. Wonderful experiences. The one thing I missed terribly was our family members we left behind!

I've done it and the worst thing was there was no 24 hour shopping. I like to shop in the middle of the night. That, and that everybody seemed to hate you just for being American even though they never took the time to find out what you were all about.
