thats a good question.. I think they make them this way cause in europe you can drive as fast as you like and so they make the cars to satisfy everyone needs.. plus they know if they lay down the bait someone will want to test this speed risk making money for the under taker, the Jail, and lawyers, so everyone gets a piece of the pie when they set it up like this..

Just like down loading music.. why sue the person that did it? If it was me and I got pinched im going after the company cause they should be held more accountable for making the site.. after all its there equipment out there thats set up for people to do those things..

Because the people who can afford those vehicles are stupid enough to buy them and then stupid enough to try and drive them at those speeds.

Do you realize how fast 160mph actually is ? ~235' per second.

Given the average reaction time from accellerator to brake is 3/4 second, that means you travel 176' before the car begins to stop (if you had to). Next time you are driving, notice you rarely look more than 50' in front of your car.

At night, the best headlights illuminate out to only about 200' which means every second at those speeds you have already passed (or hit) something you never saw in your headlights.

Because the people who buy them like to drive fast and in some circumstances, drive as fast as they like. I don't drive terribly fast, but I rarely follow the speed limit. Speed can be a huge turn on.
