Our tradition which I believe started with my husband's older sister......... We put an old shower curtain on the floor, baby in the high chair and give them a chocolate cupcake or piece of cake chocolate w/a little icing. Then we photograph the mess and give the pictures to everyone. One yr. olds have such fun, they wear more of the cake than they eat!

lol thats cute, we have a huge party and do the same thing with cake, but they get the whole cake.

Lots of bright colored balloons and presents(age appropriate). One very large brightly decorated cake(chocolate inside). The number one candle, lots of singing,
picture taking and laughing. Totally a GRAND experience for EVERYONE!!!

I let my one year old put his hand in the cake and eat it. We all ate around it. It was messy but he had so much fun.
