and read all sorts of things into it, and think they know everything about you because of it? For example: If I ask, "Do people in the rest of the world have a right to self-determination..without other people from other countries or other cultures forcing their ways unto them?". Now....it could be said this is a legitimately safe question to ask, and I would think that most normal thinking freedom loving people with decency who respect that other people have rights too besides themselves, would not find anything wrong with it. But its really amazing how some people could call someone all sorts of names for daring to ask this question...perhaps even claim that you lack education, etc....

Those people who are offended and call you all sorts of names are the ones who lack the education but simply believe what their political leaders tell them, which is scary because the same can be said of German citizens under Adolph Hitler!!

It's a bit disturbing. But people must realize the difference between real life and the internet. Hostility towards anyone is not necessary. Individuals who are open minded and understand the ideal of debate, don't get angry from questions that people ask. It's the extreme radicals that are convinced that they are right all the time and that the other side of the spectrum is wrong. Also, many users on this site lack decency, and to expect any type of respect from those individuals is unrealistic.

hehehe! Yeppers, it seems that some people take offense at every word and others only read every third word.

That question would have been just fine in my view. Of course, most questions are just fine and dandy. They may reflect some ignorance or even stupidity but I feel they have the right to post them and take what they get.

CLARIFICATION: Ignorance is the simple lack of knowledge. Education is the fix. Stupidity is the refusal to become educated. That condition is terminal.

Perhaps because you asked it in the Politics forum, and so obviously have an agenda, or you wouldn't have asked that 'simple' question. Sure, everyone has the right to self determination - until they determine to make other people's lives miserable. and I don't care if that person is a terrorist or a dictator in waiting. Your right to swing your arm ends at the tip of my nose.

Of coarse they do. After all, anyone who comes in to my county and tries to make me eat brown rice is going to get it!

Ppl who call names are not worth noticing. Just delete them.

i don't know why everyone has to get so pissed at everyone else if they have a different opinion! it's just an opinion! but at the same time why do you have to attack someone because they have a different opinion! that's what makes us all different and unique. people are dumb and closed-minded
