It takes hundreds of years for people to change tradition. Unfortunately, when I am working with a man and he gets angry I think he is standing up for himself, I like that. If a woman does it , it sounds like she is nagging and I can't help but focus on her flaws. I guess because for various reasons a woman cant control their are moods swings involved and are seen as a weakness, where as a man who personality typical remands consistent for longer periods of time; emotion is seen as a strength. This thinking is changing and in a few centuries will be obsolete. As a man, I do value a woman with reserve and can hold back and express her emotion in a more conservative way especially at the workplace.

Because since the beginning of time it has been a " Mans World"
I find men actually get mocked or punished for crying actually. I wish they would show more emotion.
But your right, there are alot of things that women take crao for still, even though times have changed.

not always... look at teachers and inappropriate student relationships... men get treated much more harshly.
It's just the way of the world... it's not fair, it's not right. Not all men criticize women for being emotional. There are guys that are understanding... hard to find but they are out there.

Dont you have it the other way around? Men almost never express their feelings.
Your question borders on sexist.
Besides mean only "express" feelings because women tell them to. Whens the last time you saw NBA players cry after a game?
How about WNBA?

This seems like a new trend...
Didn't use to be that way.
I have found that many a time in my own life. The men in my life expect all of us females to be strong and stoic, and if a tear appears during a discussion or viewing some movie or event....katy, bar the door!
We get accused of faking the emotion or using it to manipulate.
Then they wonder why my emotions are dead bolted and locked!!!

Because men are raised to not show emotion so when they do.......its a big pat on the back for being "man enough" to publicly show emotion.
Women are emotional creatures.....alot of women are drama queens and cry at the drop of a hat so.....people tend to me more critical of women showing emotions because they don't know how to react.

Woman can express emotion. They just arent as open about things as men are. women look for the inner meaning of everything while men take everything at face value.

What are you talking about???? In the work place one will not get promoted by crying and getting mad depending on their gender. It depends on what is being said and the relevance to the work. Something must of happen at work to you and that is why you feel this way.

Our society is being overwhelmed with political correctness. One tennet of PC dogma is that women need to act more like men, and men more like women - to overcome generations of gender stereotypes, of course. Thus, when men cry or act foofy, they're praised, while when women cry or show weakness they are roundly criticized.
