BBC WORLD:-

"Israel's defence minister has approved sanctions against Gaza, including cuts in the supply of electricity and fuel to try to halt rocket attacks.
Ehud Barak authorised the cuts, which are expected to follow immediately after rocket attacks are launched.

Palestinian leaders say the measure amounts to collective punishment.

Israel supplies 60% of the electricity for Gaza's 1.5 million inhabitants - but last month Israel declared Gaza a "hostile entity".

By formally declaring Gaza "hostile", Israel argues it is no longer bound by international law governing the administration of occupied territory to supply utilities to the civilian population.

Exploiting human needs to blackmail our people will never weaken us

I don't blame Israel as long as Palestine doesn't want peace...It should have been done long ago.

Israel occupies much more land than it did when it was created in 1948. Some say that Israel should give that land BACK to the Palestinians for their own homeland. To say this assumes that the Palestinians ever governed those lands. Of course, anyone who knows history, knows they did not. Before Israel occupied these areas, they were governed by Egypt and Jordan. They never attempted to establish a Palestinian State, so why excoriate Israel for not doing so?

i'm hoping that our government will attempt and alter many stuff on behalf of our palestinian acquaintances. Sweden is presiding the ecu for the 2d a million/2 of 2009 and we are desperate to place a supply as much as the jewish acquaintances and their opposed behaviour. we don't game a Jewish-foyer right here so this delivers us a fairer attitude of the comprehensive situtuation. we will attempt and do our applicable and save as many poor lives from the hands of our fanatic jewish acquaintances. Greetings

Only when they are defeated! They took the land of the Palestinians by force and they will be overcome by force, some day. If the Palestinians and the Arab world have mercy they will allow them to stay there and if not ... America is big enough for some million Jews more. Israel committed a crime against humanity and they have to pay for it !!!

AIPAC, or the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, describes itself as the most important organization affecting the U.S. relationship with Israel. With a budget of $65 million, and membership now standing at over 100,000, it is no wonder that congressional staffers consider it one of the most powerful and effective lobbies on Capitol Hill.
Once a year, AIPAC holds its annual conference in Washington DC. This May it was attended by over 5,000 participants. Its annual policy conference is one of Washington’s largest gatherings of lawmakers, topped only by the President’s State of the Union address. Guests this year included two-thirds of the House, half the Senate, and Vice President Richard Cheney. Only rarely is a critical word uttered among politicians regarding AIPAC and its associates that support unjust and aggressive (and disastrous) U.S. policies toward the peoples of the Middle East. For too long, policies that support Israeli militarism and occupation have gone unchallenged. Political voices raising even minor disagreements with prevailing policies are silenced or subject to campaigns of intimidation. We must open the door to full debate regarding U.S. relationship with Israel and U.S. policy with other countries in the region.
Until Americans decide that they no longer wish to send tax dollars in support of an illegal occupation, it will not stop. There are about 10 Lobby groups in America that "collect" money each year in Israels so called "defense". UN Resolution 242 call for immediate withdrawal of the occupied territories which are Gaza , West Bank, and East Jerusalem. All the world has agreed to this. But to this day settlements continue to be built. Talks of a major road cutting off East Jerusalem and the West Bank, and further settlements continues. Palestine is slowly but surely being annexed. Israel claims that it "defends" itself, but when one occupies anothers land that is not self defense. Thus, occupation. Also the number of refugees that are now being born refugees in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon. The numbers add up to over 1,000,000. They are born refugees and die refugees.Until the world has onevoice, and works together to find a solution, one day Palestine will be wiped off the map entirely. Peace!

What would happen if the Palestinians stopped teaching hate in their schools, & started to create wealth independant of Israel? Could their be peace in the area. Do both sides wish to make the merchants of death wealthy? They are the only winners in the strugle! Oh, I forgot the Press also wins. More violence creates higher ratings - they can sell avertising time for more.

Well, sadly the answer to this is when the oil in the Middle East runs out or a more profitable alternative to oil is found which the US can monopolize - until then Israel is needed to terrorize and oppress the region so US and British companies can steal all the black stuff and they will block any real peace process.

Of course it is vaguely possible that normal people in the US, Britain and Israel will resist the propaganda the media is feeding them and see what is really happening and pressurize their governments into stopping it but as you can see from the responses to your question this is highly unlikely.

When Hamas stops acting like a bunch of terrorists and gets along with their Israeli neighbors. Why countries in the Middle East hate and despise Jews and Israel is beyond me. Everyone is entitled to their religious beliefs and not be threatened because they do not believe like their neighbors. The religious pomposity of some Muslims is beyond understanding, who gives a f**k what religion someone is. It is not important, how we treat each other is, and both Palestine and Israel need to stop hating each other and just get over it.

When the Palestinians stop killing innocents. The Palestinians don't commit murder by suicide bombers to free Palestine, they do it to murder the innocent, and to kill as many Jews as possible, even if that includes Americans, students, etc. You cannot believe everything you read, the BBC and Britain is unfortunately suffering from a wave of new-Antisemitism. What should Israel do to defend itself?

There has been a battle between the Israelis and the Palestinians for centuries. Both sides are fighting over the holy land which both the Israelis and Palestinians believe the land rightfully belongs to them. You come across as being very anti-Semitic. You have to understand that the Palestinians are twisted people.

"Israel's defence minister has approved sanctions against Gaza, including cuts in the supply of electricity and fuel to try to halt rocket attacks. "

You didn't even read your own post.

"try to halt rocket attacks."

Israel is at war with religous extremists. Sometimes, when religious extremists use civilians as body armor, civilians get caught in the middle. You don't surrender to terrorists just because they hold hostages.

How come you believe that self-defense by Jews is called "inhuman", but outright murder of women and children by Arabs is OK?
