My period, which is usually on time, is 4 days late. There is no reason it shouldn't be on time and I am not stressed out. I didn't even begin to suspect pregnancy until the day after my period was due. I decided to take a test this morning. I used E.P.T. The one with either a + or - sign. I know the test worked correctly as the window filled with color like it should have and the control line appeared right away.

This issue is, within the first few seconds the second line appeared making the + but it was very faint. Then a few seconds later the line disappeared. I know for a fact that it was there. I know they say a positive no matter how faint should be considered a positive but what about when it disappears a few seconds later?

I'm confused and unsure how to interpret this test? What do you think??

This has happened to me b4 as well. You are most likely not pregnant. When the urine goes over the window part it will momentarily highlight the plus sign. You are not suppose to read the results until 3 Min's after the test is taken...but it can be accurate within as little as 1 min. There are so many reasons you could be late for your period. Sometimes a cyst..or maybe a medication taken for something within the past month. If you do not get it in the next week ..try another test. Or call your Dr. To find out what's going on with you. A woman's cycle can change at any time in her life. Mine has done it a few times. Good luck to you ;)

take another test in a day or so. it could be that it was a real positive, but your HCG levels are fairly low due to being so early on and so it wasn't enough for a clear positive.

when i took my 4 (yuppp took that many to convince me, and even then i had my doubts! haha) tests, they all came back glaring a huge, bold positive sign within like 3 seconds...

but i was almost 6 weeks at that point. if you're just barely pregnant, like 3-4 weeks... then it is possible the tests just aren't sensitive enough to really give you a good reading.

i'd wait and take a second test in one or two more days. and if that comes back positive, congrats and get to the docs! if its negative... i'd wait, and if you still don't get your period in the next week or so, either get to the docs or take another test. if you're over 2-3 weeks late... then you should definitely see a doctor no matter what the result, because something else could be going on

good luck!

After the 3-5 minutes was up, was the positive still there? That's why you have to wait a certain amount of time. I had a false positive a few months ago so don't get your hopes up too much. Try the digital test if you want to make sure.

It would be hard to second guess yourself when that happens.
But it does state in the paper work that comes with the test don't read the results after three minutes as the results can vary. If you are concerned then take another test but if that is still confusing for you then go to your doctor and ask for a blood test. This will be much more dafinative.

My opinion is that if it said posative then you are! Congratulations!

Sounds like you're pregnant! Something similar happened to me....the line was so faint you could barely see it. But then 2 days later I took another test and it was unmistakable! Just to be on the safe side, take another pregnancy test in a few days.

Good luck!!!

Sometimes there is a faint line for positive but the negative line is more obvious giving you a negative result. Try the clearblue test and its results have pregnant or not pregnant in words, so there is no misunderstanding. Good luck

Sometimes with a pregnancy test the positive line does appear briefly while the liquid is soaking up into it, then if it disappears you are not pregnant (as it has not detected the hormone) and if it stays then you are. Thats how mine worked anyway. Sometimes its better buying a digital one - atleast it gives you a clear answer.

I would wait and take another test just to be sure. By the sound of it, you're probably pregnant! Good luck!
