there are so many... but try "Musae Jovis" by Nicolas Gombert (c.1495–c.1560)
for something more recent (and orchestral), "Daphnis et Chloe" by Maurice Ravel (1875-1937)

I've got lots of various pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Handel, Delius, and others, but I haven't listened to them for a while {I really only got into Classical in the last year}, and as yet can't remember the titles!

So I'll go with the two I love that I can remember! :~

Elgar ~ Enigma Variations
Holst ~ The Planets suite

It changes daily - sometimes more frequently. Right now I'm listening to Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and have decided it's my favorite of the moment.

This always varies for me, from day to day or week to week.

Today my favorite piece is Beethoven's String Quartet Op.59 No.1, the first "Razumovsky" quartet.

Can't go wrong with Mozart, whom I consider "#1 of all time."

I like his Requiem (K.626), in particular the Dies Irae.

If I had to pick one, it would Saint-Saens' Third Symphony (with some Debussy and Ravel close behind).

Wy do people keep asking this meaningless question? I love hundreds (probably thousands) of pieces and I could not possibly pick-out just one favourite.
