I have read it but I haven't read it in years. My parents used to have a copy of it hanging in our living room so I used to read it fairly regularly.
I believe I understood it. But you are making me realize that I need to revisit the document. Thank you. I know some things from it but not a level where I feel comfortable.

The Constitution is the best gift any group of people have ever given to posterity. These are the major problems I see with how our government interprets and follows it:
1. Supreme Court involvement in Bush/Gore 2000 contest.
2. Loss of 'posse comitatus.'
3. Takeover of US government by military and its budget.
4. Treatment of the corporation with full rights of an individual citizen.
5. Refusal to protect borders in behalf of corporations.
Thomas Jefferson thought that a new revolution would be necessary every 20 years or so to keep within the spirit of the Declaration and the Constitution. It would be a shame to have to admit him correct.

I have read it, but its interpretation is up for debate. As far as knowing what it means to live in a country with these rights and promises I don't think that I could know. The constitution is a living document, so its meaning is forever changing.

Yes, I've read it. All American's should read it. One part that people forget is that a healthy Democracy depends on an informed and diligent citizenry. Which means that ordinary folks need to get informed and get involved!! Without citizens participating, our Constitution is little more than a dream.
