We are all aware of the human right infringements as a result of the invasion of Iraq, but this is not the only instance of the USA persuing a hostile and fascist foreign policy.
There are many other cases, such as support and aid for dictators in South and central America in order to protect commercial intrests (and the encouragement of political repression in these countries).

Is it right for us in the UK to support this fascist and imperialist nation?

I am not condoning any imperialistic action undertaken by Britian, I think that all imperialism is wrong, But my question was about modern-day affairs. Britian has a bad past but in the modern zeitgheist of democracy and liberality, should Britian, a fairly liberal country, should encourage the most powerful nation in the world to persue a hostile foreign policy?

We should apply the same policy to the USA as they do with us, ie help then out when it suits our own interests to. And I'm certainly no fan of the USA but the UK has also done a fair few things which we can't be proud of too.

I am English.
I could fill this site with a list of countrys far worse than the USA [including us]
We help each other to remain the best countrys in the world.
Why not turn your sights to some of those African and Asian countrys that are killing their own people.
Leave the Western countrys to be the stabilising influence on the world .
To all you Americans out there,
I must point out that the vast number of british people are glad you are over there.
Without you being there, we would find tomorow we would have Iran invading our shores if not another tin pot country that wants to over run the world.

Suddenly the UK has a problem with imperialism? Here's a hint, America's imperialism is mostly limited to the British Empire - dozens of nations robbed blind and virtually abandoned by the UK after WW2.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the fourth time the UK has been militarily involved in Afghanistan and at least the second British-backed invasion of Iraq? Yeah. Hi pot. Meet kettle.

Next time around, win World War 2 without our help and maintain your world empire--I'm sure that millions upon millions of Africans, Indians, and Arabs would be more than proud to continue to "cooperate with such a nation" as the UK, especially when the system treated them so well.
Make no mistake about it--compared to past world powers, the United States is a hell of a lot better (honestly, if the American Empire were to fall apart and there were multiple strong countries on earth, there would just be war again, and people would end up looking at this time as a kind of golden age). No, it's not perfect, and yes, it involves itself in wars in distant countries, but so what? Welcome to the past 5000 years of history. Take a look at contemporary South Korea and the current nations of Afghanistan and North Korea to see who had the right ideology in the Cold War in terms of what kind of economic and political models lead to growth and peace--turns out, it's not inefficient communist regimes that oppress and murder their own people.
Honestly, the US is mostly criticized by the world because there is a sense of frustration at the sense of smugness of its leaders (and often its people) and its unquestionable power. But like it or not, and believe it or not, things could be a lot worse, and surely will be in history down the line. Enjoy being on the winning side if you can--at least we don't throw Christians to wild beasts or enslave people with different color skin as us. All we want to do is set up puppet governments and mutually take advantage of your economic resources... but you'll get rich too in the long run, so trust us. ;)

Well, we are not twisting your UK arm to cooperate with us.
I guess if you too want all your women dressed in burkas and you like bowing to Mecca, then by all means stand on your own.
I promise we will not stop you.......
Until your Islamic ruled nation becomes a threat to us. Then we will twist your arm rather fiercely.
Oh and for imperialistic regiems, did you forget about the British Empire? I have yet to see any land that the US has conquered that we have maintained physical control over. Many we probably should have.

What planet did this ding-a-ling fall off of? Remember the old saying "the sun never sets on the British Empire"? Let's just review for a moment all the countries that Britian ruthlessly invaded and then enslaved. How about we start with India? Human rights violations? I THINK SO! To bad we saved your sorry as# in WWII If we hadn't you'd be writing this rant in German!

My friend you as an Englishman have a lot of audacity preaching to others about human rights abuses and misuses of power. Why don't you look at the historical foreign policy of your country before you do others.
Why did your country go to war with Argentina over a couple of islands they'd never even been to before? In order to stimulate British economy and to reinvigorate a declining Prime Minister. It was Tony Blair who discussed with Bush the possibility of staging a shot down aircraft incident in order to justify military action in Iraq.
The moral of the story is that every country in history has done things not acceptable by the established norms of morality in order to protect their interests. It has nothing to do with one country over another. The difference is that when America does it; their government must lie to their people in order to gain popular support, whereas when Great Britain misused power, people gladly shouted "for king and country" in your town squares. America hides from its people the imperial nature of the government, whereas you all proudly proclaimed it.

ROFLMAO, as if Great Britain, like every other nation in the world, isn't protecting it's commercial interests in the very same way. That's rich!
Yeah, spreading freedom and democracy to nations ruled by genuinely psychopathic, murdering tyrannts is the height of 'fascism'.
You know, I'm really beginning to wonder about the public school system in the UK, cause mate, it's failed you.

probably not with the way we have acted recently, and by we I mean our government. But don't think most americans are behind this idea, were just finding out slowly more and more how much control is being held behind the scenes and how many of those "conspiracy theories" are actually true. I'm not saying theres aliens or anything like that (who knows) but certain things in previous elections like a vote in one county in ohio where 130% of the registered voters voted allowing bush the win....
so maybe once we get this crazy train under control

Mate, I am from the north of Ireland, so don't consider myself part of the UK, but who are you kidding? UK has caused much harm and pain throughout the world for centuries, so get off your high horse about the USA.
