I think that it is a terrible idea to move the NFL to London. If the NFL is trying to make money extend the games here in America and make teams over there to compete here. Do Londoner's follow American Football? If so have the NFL make some teams to compete over there and then make have a world championship after the superbowl. Just a uneducated suggestion from a New England Patriots football fan.

Very simple. The NFL is looking to expand to Europe. The NFL feels London is ready for a team. This game is a litmus test for interest.
While expansion there is probably still a bit off, the NFL definitely has plans to go international. Toronto, Mexico City, and Tokyo have all been discussed.
Unlike baseball or basketball, since you have a week between games travel wouldn't be out of the question (it isn't that much further for the Jets to go to London than it is for the Seahawks to travel to Miami).
London is a HUGE market. It is bigger than anywhere in the US other than NYC. If the NFL can establish itself there, the built in national rivalries in Europe could lead to more teams.
While basketball is still the biggest American sport internationally for participation, keep in mind that the Super Bowl has an International audience bigger than anything hoops could dream of providing.
The NFL will be in London. Only a matter of time.

Keep the American game here. There are a lot of cities that would support a team. Where do you think the international team players will come from? There are only so many weeks in a season. Size matters, but not here. Bigger is not necessarily better!!!!!

If they played it in Miami this year nobody would show. At least some people in England might show thinking it's a soccer match.
