He was assassinated because of publicly wanting to put an end to the Vietnam war. Anytime theres a war many military defense contractors make millions-billions of dollars. He would have taken there profits away. Wars are generated to gain power or profits

He may not have been the target at all. It was said that Oswald could not shoot that accurately in the time he had, and perhaps he didn't. connelly had tried to keep Oswald from returning to this country after being in Russia, so perhaps Oswald meant to shoot him and hit JFK instead.
