I believe that it is. Not because I would want to discriminate, but because there seems to be so many differences between the races that it is less likely that I would have a diverse pool of people from which to select my friends.
In other words, it I like 40's music, gardening, photography, politics, reading, or any other personal interest, I am most likely to find friends from that group. While I hate to use stereotypes, I don't think we are as likely to enjoy the same things as people of another race.

I choose my friends based upon common interest. Im white, one of my best friends is black. But he is a Nigerian. I am not at all racist, but I will admit, I dont have many African american, mexican, asian, or whatever other race of friends based purely on interest issues and the fact that I live in a predominatley white town. Over the years we have had exchange students stay with us from various coutries like Africa, Germany, Spain, South America. And all of them are still friends but they dont live here anymore and my best friends have always been white with the exception of Gbadamosi (my african friend). I believe I am a person who has credit to say this because of my travels (to places like Africa and europe) , but I have noticed that there is a different "mindset" within different races. This isnt always true of course, that would be stereotyping to the extreme, but for my experiences with African Americans, they all seem to think similarly (with exceptions). The same thing applies to other races (people of Asian, south american, european, or other groups) I think it is mostly cultural environment that effects this. Genetically I see no superiority for any one race. Well, with one exception (african/ African americans do seem to be better athletes than most other races) Just look at professional and college sports. Most of us white guys cant seem to jump or run as fast as the typical african american athlete. ------comments???? raywcecil3@yahoo.com

No not at all but I do think it has a way of... censoring. Some people may refrain from saying a certain comment or telling a story to refrain from offending anyone... but when it comes down to it - friendship is based on who you can get along with and have fun with... not race.

Absolutly not, you find friends that share common interest and hobbies not by color I am sure there are people of every race that you might be able to find something in common with and if you can't you are not looking hard enough. Be open minded. Different is good

Not for me. If I like someone's personality, I'm going to be their friend, no matter the color. If I were to only try and pick friends of my race, I'd only have a few friends. And everyone could use more friends!!

Absolutely not. I am friends with people because of their personalities, not because of their race. It is exciting when I meet someone of a different race and get to learn about their culture.

That has NEVER been a factor for me. What they have inside is the most important part. Same goes for dating.

Daniel, race in know way has anything to do with my choice of friends. I actually enjoy having friends of different races and cultures as this is one way of learning about different cultures and trying out new items to feast on.
