Iran has always been a force to be reckoned with, largely backed by Russia, which is why so many nations supported Saddam in standing up to Iran (until he invaded Saudi Arabia and Kuwait).
Iran is subject to sanctions by the UN for refusing to allow inspection of its nuclear weapons program. A fellow in Pakistan named Khan sent nuclear development plans and sources for materials to four nations to help them rapidly advance their nuclear programs - Libya, Iraq, Iran, North Korea. All four of them put this information to use and began clandestine nuclear weapons programs.
Bush caught all four of them in the act - when the UN nuclear inspectors had no idea that the weapons programs existed. Libya was smart enough to hand over its stuff when caught. The others refused. Now that the UN is aware of Iran's program and Iran's refusal to allow inspection, the UN has ordered sanctions and other action. Bush was right all along.
Iran refuses to stop its weapons development. Iran may be the first Jihadist nation to have nuclear arms. Iran's leader has spoken openly of wanting to wipe Israel off the map and to start Armageddon so the 12th Imam will come to Earth.
Iran's leaders have clearly stated their intentions to start a nuclear war. That must be taken seriously.

You're question isn't logical. It is because Iran has gained influence and become more powerful due to the Iraq war that Bush is now imposing sanctions.
Either way why marvel at how Bush has done something illogical; it is something I've come to expect from him.

Let see...Iraq and Iran were mortal enemies.
In the Iran/Iraq war we backed Iraq. Then in the first Iraq war we disarm Iraq (blowing up all the stuff we sold to Saddam...so we could sell him new stuff????) Still, Iran was not a problem.
From the time of the end of the Iran/Iraq war until we invaded Iraq for the second time, Iran was in check.
So Bush shot himself (and the whole world) in the azz with his stupid second invasion of Iraq.

How did Iraq allow Iran to purchase nuclear secrets from Pakistan's top nuclear scientist?
After reading all these answers, I find it funny that the Liberals blame Bush for disarming Iraq. Any other day, they were already disarmed by Clinton.
Face it, Iran was moving forward with their nuclear ambitions no matter what.

Since your lie-based question was posed so lopsidedly, let me answer; the sanctions are a result of Iran's exporting of arms and terror. It wasn't President Bush who made Iran what it is today, that's a direct result of your bestest buddy Jimmyearl Carter. Iran is just another Lib/Dem experiment gone horribly wrong, especially when Jimmyearl thought it would be a peachy idea to remove all support for the Shah and put than nice holy man Kohmeni in power. It proved that the Democrats know even less about foreign matters than they do about domestic matters.

First, charge him, and convict him for possible lies, no more lip service. He has rights and those should be protected. Unless you belong to the selective rights program for only those who you support. Second, no Iran is conducting their own propaganda program. This would have been done regardless of the war in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Its about falling dollar.
Lots of the Gulf countries are now considering Euro as Oil Payment.
Inflation is up in the Gulf countries due to falling dollar.
Dollar is becoming worthless.

Bush eliminated Iran’s chief opposition in the area and now is upset that Iran is trying to flex its muscle. It’s as if Bush has been deliberately trying to make the situation in the Middle East worse. I truly think that Bush and his advisors are just ignorant, aggressive and greedy.
