Because the administration is influenced by far right conservatives who want us to confront any country they consider detrimental to our interests in the Middle East. This is what happens when you allow a political party to be taken over by anti-gay, pro-business, anti-environmental protection, pro-war religious extremists. As long as they continue to successfully attack anyone who resists them as unpatriotic, unsupportive of our troops and pro-terrorism, there is not much that can be done.

Apparently that's the only thing Bush and Cheney know to do. They can't get along with anyone it seems except their own people. Cheney is a fear monger. He probably should be scared because he's completing a self-fulfilling prophecy.
