A member of the staff said that secrets between friends are illegal, and, I want to prove him wrong, because, a private conversation is Private, and I said I would never tell ANYONE, and I don't intend to either.

so, if i get you right, you are being banned because you have a secret with a friend and this is why you are being banned, well i dont know about legality, but i would say that you can disclose some other info and still keep your secret and still play the on line game. after all it is a game, and do they have any rules about the disclosure of information... but in real life for instance a wife can't be forced to testify against her husband... and then there is that "honor among thieves thing... then priests dont have to tell what someone confesses right... hmmmmmmm

you can say pretty much anything on forums and chatrooms as long as the your manor and language is appropriate. They moderator of this site cannot tell you that telling a secret is illeagal, simply because it's not! This is a very stupid riule to have and you should email the moderator imforming them of your situation. If this secret involved inopropriate language the moderator still has no right to ban you because you were not the one telling the secret. Good luck

I think it is fine to keep secrets.
I don't understand why they want to ban you, but maybe they have people cheating or learning something illegal by talking privately..Did you check the "Rules" - (I know I never do :P )
I still don't agree though. Secrets are secrets..

Which game? And no they are not illegal, the only time you have to tell anyone anything truthful is in a court of law under oath even then you can plead the 5th and keep your mouth shut. Sounds like you delt with some moron, I would get a hold of his supervisers and apeal the situation.

Private conversations are suppose to be just that and you can not get in trouble for something that was said privately enless it was like to un undercover cop and it was about a little girl and you having s** obviously a situation that was like this wouldn't be kept so private no matter who you are talking to.

No , I think you misread what he was tryin to say - 'secrets between friends are illegal' .
That means it's illegal to keep a secret and you SHOULD share it with everyone here , or else it might be illegal for you not to.

online games have their own rules. laws don't apply. But secrets are not illegal in general.
Certain secrets have an obligation of being reported (someone confessing to a crime or suicide)

was it a "secret", or was it collusion?
If you're secretly telling someone "I'll do this if you do that" and it's affect gameplay for others (ie, cheating), then yeah, I wouldn't have a problem with banning you from the game.
