that question doesn't seem very fair... if those darned republicans would just lower the education standards already, dems & co wouldn't *have* to try harder! everyone get's 'A's & feels good.

This is silly. I have a college degree, and in a year, I am going to get a masters. I can not find a job right now, but I am FEVERISHLY looking for one. Yes, the rich should pay more taxes. The poor should also pay taxes, but not as much as the rich. Why? They simply do not have the money at the moment. I am poor right now and college educated, and will ultimately get a doctorate in my field. If I ever became rich, I would pay more money. So, just because you are hard working and college educated, does not mean that you will be well off. It does better your chances......no dought. However, sometimes being rich or poor is not a choice.

Yes, the rich should pay more taxes, as contrary to popular belief, most don't pay their fair share. They have many ways of sheltering money tax-free, therefore, percentage wise, they don't pay enough. As far as dems & schooling, there are plenty of rich dems as well. Although getting a good education is always a good idea, not all financially successful people are well schooled or even well educated (which often starts at home). Many people have become wealthy through other means, so education plays only one part of the equation. Hard work, luck, connections, good ideas, talent, birth order & location, etc., also play a part as well.

I agree with the above post, please stop dividing these discussions with rep/dem and cons/lib labels. It only serves to dilude the discourse into mindless babble.
Yes, the rich should pay more taxes. Not a ridiculous amount, but they should pay a small percentage more than the average person. And the average person should have to pay a considerable amount less than they currently do. At the moment, the average tax payer pays around 45% of their check. That is absolutely ludicris.

Are all of you people flamers? Just putting crap out there to annoy and to inflame?
Your premise is stupid. First of all - to divide the country into "Democrats/Republicans" is stupid. Let me ask you something....
What is the percentage of Americans who have voted in the last two or three elections?
Exactly. The FACT of the matter is that the MAJORITY of Americans are not Democrats OR Republicans. The MAJORITY of Americans are apathetic and have given up on politics.
It's convenient and inflammatory for you to frame issues in Dem/Repub language, but in reality that is meaningless.
But you are right about one thing - Democrats do care about people who have no food to eat and do not have a roof over their heads, and Republicans care about their own pocketbooks.
That part you got right.

You should be addressing that to republicans who make less than $100,000. I guarantee that's the majority. The median income in the US is under $50K with many blue states substantially higher. The group you're defending is tax payers who make over $500,000 a year, and is comprised of republicans and democrats. It's a very small portion of the total population, republican or democrat.

I think the poor red states should stop being poor and start being rich like the liberal states and stop leeching our federal tax dollars.

You are right........ And after the american does well in that publicly financed school, and goes onto that publicly financed college, what is wrong with asking that person to contribute back the country that was so instrumental in their success...

The rich should pay more in taxes, and if everyone in America had a college degree we would have a very educated workforce at McDonalds.
Who do you expect to pay off the trillion dollar Bush war debt, the poor?
