Most of the time a normal person wants to be punished. Some people are born without a consious and they afford punishment like the plaque.

Guilt is the result of social conditioning and can only occur if the event or action is in conflict with learned social values. It is a bad thing to kill a cow in some cultures. Is there guilt existing and a demand for punishment at McDonald's?

If they are truely guilty and truely smart and realize the chances of them getting away with the thing causing them guilt is low then they will demand to be punished...
If they are truely guilty and not so smart and dont realize the chances of them getting away are low they will probably try to avoid punishment imo.
Lets see who gets it worse in the end... The one that can live with themself better or the one that has to watch every thing they say just inorder to not get caught lol.
A lie can make then break you.

i would say yes because if you are guilty implies you have wronged, but what is it you have wronged? The term guilty presupposes the answer there. although a more interesting question would be whether guilt and a moral code are real universal standards or otherwise a human invention.

Very often.... it is a way of re-establishing order ..... I have often found that if you think someone is nice ~ and they are *not* ~ they will go out of their way to prove it to you, so
you can then make a proper decision about
them, and they can then make progress
from there....and the reverse is true, too!
It is something like "This Side Up" ...!!
