I have a misdemeanor on my record and failed to disclose it on my notary application. The SOS found out and revoked my license. Do you know what I should expect tomorrow? How should I prepare myself for the hearing? Would you happen to know what my chances of having my commission reinstated are? Thanks for your help!

I am in California. I failed to disclose my misdemeanor on the notary application. As a result of that I had my notary license revoked by the S.O.S.. I am hoping to have my commisson reinstated. Would you happen to know any info. that would be helpful? I need to know how I can be better prepared for something like this? I have no idea what to expect.
Thanks for all of your help!

Your chances of reinstatement are practically nil.

An inattentive notary can do a lot of damage. An unwitting notary in Virginia helped some of the 9-11 hijackers obtain false IDs.

A dishonest notary can do even more damage. A different Virginia notary prepared and sold false identity affidavits to illegals.

You were either one or the other, because you either willfully or negligently withheld information on your application. Say goodbye to that commission, and rightfully so.

Being a Notary is a position of trust. Omitting the misdemeanor shows a lack of being able to be trusted. I am guessing that you will not be reinstated.
