Not only is this why we can't understand each other, it is also why we don't seem to be able to fit in very well with the environment here in earth. We are all from other planets and we just don't have a natural role in the order of things here on earth.

Na both men and women are from a wet soggy place.
A planet called uterus.
There they develop almost completely independant of meaningful contact with other life - except in a skewed kind of way from behind a wall which prevents sight and hearing.
Finally a kinda of worm hole opens up, pushes them to earth and bursts their bubble.
Its still highly debated as to whether its possible for them to ever have meaningful long term interactions with each other.
Perhaps its something do with development on that odd planet that causes the problems - meh - how should I know.
BA taking-the-piddle
incidentally - when people say they couldnt give a sh*t, a poll of 310 toilets reveals they are lying - they really do give sh*t.
Just a little gem I thought you'd all like to know.

The basic battle of the sexes comes down to the fact that men want a straight exchange in a relationship and the woman wants the man to provide for her and do all this other stuff.
A man might get annoyed with women because no women will date him, but a woman will get annoyed with men if no man will put her on a pedestal and worship her.

We dont understand each other, because we want to make excuses and dont want to compromise.
Males and females both have certain demands, but we never try to find a common ground where both sides can be happy.

No... there's actual genetic differences between the male and female brain. We think differently, react differently, etc... that leads to misunderstandings and the like.

I wouldn't want to be from either planet...boil or freeze, which atmospheric conditions do you prefer? Technically, we are made of star debris, though.
~edit~
Wow saint, no one else picked up the sense of humor in your question (or my reply either for that matter).
