My hubby and I are Christians and we believe that God gave wisdom so certain people could be doctors and help heal. If we look at it like we are playing God than people shouldn't receive treatments for anything like cancer, organ donations, flu shots, heart attacks, etc.

You really need to look at it like this. God will put people, things, or treatments in your life for a reason. We believe he created man in such a way as to learn how to cure and help the evils in this world. I believe a person couldn't have perfected fertility treatments without the hand of God. And trust me if it isn't Gods will for you to have a child no amount of treatments or procedures will help.

We believe we have a giving God and he wants to bless you with the desires of your heart. So if it is your hearts desire God will bless you with a baby and he will show you the way. And IVF may be the only way.

God uses people on Earth as vessels for his work. Wouldn't more people believe in him if he just came down and appeared in person to everyone but he chooses to call out some to be preachers and missionaries to carry and spread the word about him. He chooses people to carry out and do his work here on earth and I believe it goes from preachers to doctors to lawyers (that help the innocent) to social workers and on and on.

I would pray about it and ask God to show you the way to have a baby and seek out what he puts on your heart.

Best wishes and God Bless you both!!!!

I have had IVF done, and I hardly think that it is playing the role of God. God gave the Doctor's the strength and knowledge to do this to help others. I am a christian also, and it seems that you are a bit contradicting. You said that you and your husband are going to adopt from here in the USA. Why did you emphasize USA? Isn't that judging others? There are plenty of children around the world who need a family. God made everything! ALL children are Gods children. NOT just the ones here in the USA. I am thankful that God gave me my IVF doctors. I prayed for a child, God sent me the Doctor's to deliver his answered prayer. I hope your situation works out for you and husband. Best of luck.

I don't think IVF is playing the role of God, but it really depends on how you personally view the procedure. There are arguments for both sides of this one. If you are really uncomfortable with it, you could try adoption. There are lots of great kids out there who could use a good loving home. On the other hand, if you want to give IVF a try, I don't think it's "ungodly." Maybe you could talk to your pastor/priest about it and see what he or she thinks.

Go for the IVF it might not work 1st time but keep trying that why we where put on this earth ad god once us all to be happy do what use both want it sounds like you really want this so why sit around and be miserable the rest of your life get out there and try to get what you want.. Man. Playing the role of God includes judging other people and believing you are God, not using the world and what humans have figured out. If you think that IVF is playing the role of God then you need to give up all medicine and all technology and go back to being buck naked, scavenging for food without fire. I personally think its pompous to think that a mere human can pretend to have any Godlike powers when we only know God in a narrow, myopic way and not how God really is.

Yes, I am Christian - but I also believe that we can not know God as God is - God is greater and more powerful then even we can imagine. IVF is such a small thing, and so limited - about as bad as wearing makeup, piercing your ears, bottle feeding, eating beef cooked in milk, and skipping church because you have a "mired ox." Nothing compared to what we are doing to the earth or to each other....

i don't see how that could be playing the role of god,
god didn't make this world to be polluted or to have all these processed foods etc. which is manly the reasons of infertility, god made people that can think and figure out new ways to fix the problems that we created (he thought up environmentalists to fix the problem of pollution, did he not?) so god figured that the people that happen to be infertile deserve just as much of a chance of having there own children as the rest of the world so he thought up the scientists that figured out a passable way to help infertile men and woman to conceive there own children just like he helped us figure out adoption

don't ever let it cross your mind that ivf is ungodly he made people smart enough to invent things like ivf for infertility...

good luck but if you choose not to go for ivf theres always adoption and that is the most godly thing i can think of you would be helping a mother that cannot care for the baby and you would be giving that child a better life (i am adopted myself and i wouldn't change that for the world.)

My husband and I are also christians and if having IVF was the only way to have a baby then we would, if you dont mind me asking y do you need IVF? will you be using your own egg and your hubby's sperm or a donor? Maybe you should talk to your pastor about what they think you should do. Good luck and God bless!

I feel that there are two ways to look at the situation... #1 is that when it's time for us to have a baby, God will make it happen. #2 is that God created medicine to help us. Almost like He is saying, "Ok, you keep praying for help conceiving... I've put the help you need in front of you, so are you going to take advantage of it?"

It's a difficult decision, but I do not think that IVF is playing the role of God... not at all. I've decided to take advantage of the help He's placed in front of me, but that was my decision. Good luck!

God wouldn't have given you that option if he didn't want you to have children. He would've made it impossible. God wants you to have children and to have IVF doen to have the baby you have always dreamt of. God is working through your doctor to give you a baby. It is his will.

I wish you all the best and good luck sweetie!

God opens the womb. If you're not meant to have children IVF wouldnt work either.

He said be fruitful and multiply, he's not going to give you a command and then curse you so you cannot fulfill it.

Unless you are living in sin, and the enemy is able to steal kill and destroy your children because you havent turned to God for his protection and power, then you have no reason on earth not to do what he said.

Be fruitful and multiply. Medicine in a lot of cases can be his mercy for people who otherwise dont have the faith for healing.
