I wanted to dress all in camoflage as some sort of army-person for halloween, but one of my friends is saying that that would be offensive and disrespectful.

Yes, this is the season of the easily offended. Army uniforms have always been used for Halloween outfits, just as fire fighters, police officers, nurses etc etc. I don't see how it is disrespectful, respect is in attitude, not a costume.

Yes it is ok to wear the Army uniform, BDU or ACU, for Halloween but you should not wear any rank or branch on the uniform like "U.S Army". You can have your name on it though.

I never heard of any civilian getting into trouble for wearing a US Military Uniform for Halloween. I have heard of a civilian who got caught wearing a Navy uniform on a Navy base and he got into some serious trouble.

I'm also going to wear an Army ACU at a Halloween party with a black beret with no rank and no brand name as well. Wear it with pride!

I'm not sure why your friend would say that. Since when is being a 'hero' offensive on Halloween? That's what you are dressing as after all. Wear it and be proud.

As long as you dress in a respectful way to the uniform, that's fine.

Pairing fatigues with a hot pink belt and heels would be insulting.

Just be committed to dressing 100% army.

Do you admire and support the troops? Respect them for putting their lives on the line for the freedom of our nation? Many of them have given their very life for their country. Given the ultimate sacrifice. If you have nothing but good to say for the troops, then go ahead. It would be a good thing, as long as others understand and can clearly see your strong support for them.

I wouldn't think so... But, then again, I'm not in the military. Maybe someone that is in the armed forces can help shed some light on the issue. Good Luck! =)
