for jobs yes, i'm an HR rep, but out in public i only judge people when they are wearing cloths that are too tight and stuff is hanging out everywhere. unfortunately society works this way. I know people judge me, but i don't care. I'm happy with who i am and i try really hard to dress apropriately for my weight and age.

No matter what anybody says we all do to some degree. It is something we are born with. We are curious about other individuals so we have to put some type of ideas together when we notice them. This is just human nature working at it's best. Some obviously do it more than others and studies show that there is a link between the way people dress and look to how they sometimes act. In some cases you will never know until you actually meet the individual but your gut feeling will often give you a decent start. Hope this helped!

Everyone does. No matter how hard you try it is impossible not to. It is a defense mechanism. The difference is how you interpret the information. Regardless of what someone looks like we are all capable of similar actions. The human mind uses this info as a preliminary determination of someones general M.O. If you see someone in an alley that looks dangerous you will be more cautious. I always give people the benefit of the doubt and wait till they speak. That is usually a good indicator of someones personality.

Sometimes. For example, If i see someone with alot of piercings, paints the nails black, wears everything black and has a t-shirt of a rock band like maroon 5, then I will most likely judge them probably thinking there gothic or something. But sometimes I really don't care. I wear pink sometimes to places and I bet some people will think im preppy but im not. I don't like barbie's, I hate wearing makeup, and I'm not like those snobbing preppy people. Im just average you know? I guess everyone does this at first glance.

If people were honest with themselves, they would have to admit that first impressions are always based on appearance. That is all you have to go on for a first impression. But where people are actually divided is, do they let this first impression keep them from getting to know the person, or do they ignore it and give the person a chance. I think that most of the time I fall into that 2nd category that doesn't stick with first impressions but would rather get to know the person. But I know in my heart, that there are times that I do not. I'm not proud of that.

Yes, unfortunatley I do. If I see someone who is not dressed well or dirty looking them I assume them to be trashy or nasty. If I see a person with a lot of piercings or tatoos then i assume them to be "gothic" or weird, but if I see a well dressed and groomed person then I assume they are well educated and successful in life. I am much more likely to associate myself with those type people.

On their God-given appearance, no. But on the appearance they choose to present, definitely yes. The type of dress, piercings, tattoos definitely gives an idea of a persons values. A person with rings hanging from holes in his face definitely doesn't care to look grotesque in public.

I tend to do it first off just to process a first impression. But after that first quick assessment I always maintain an open mind to allow their character to come out too! I wouldnt let someones tattoos or dress mess up the possibility of a great friendship!

Depends on the situation. I try not too. Piercings and tats don't bother me.. But now there are some situations where I really have to wonder if a person is all upstairs with what they have done to their appearance.

No, I don't believe a person should be judged by their appearance. Just because someone has piercings and tattoos or dresses weird doesn't make them a bad person.
