Here is how it works:
Monthly plans- free verizon to verizon calling
free night and weekend to anyone
You can add a text messaging package to your single line:
10$/Mo- unlimited text V to V + 500 to additional (ATT, Sprint,etc)
or
5$/Mo- 500 Texts
Or you can put your single or family share plan on a select plan (unlimited texting) or the premium plan (unlimited text, VCAST, VZ NAV, etc)

Txt is not free from V to V .. unless you've paid extra for texting. Talking V to V is free.
