I need help with writing essay on events that have him change from becoming wreckless and fun-caring to more mature. I just wrote what the question says.

If you have ever read the book, these are my guese.

I would say that in the begining of the book he is less caring because he has never expreienced fear, death, or danger. Those events could be like being lost in the cave, hiding in the haunted house from Injun Joe, digging for trasure which brought up superstitution, and that he begins to be more mature at then end of the book where he explains to the people at the table his story, just right after he yelled at Sid.....

Would this be correct

Tom's funeral was a key moment. He feels remorse for all the people he's hurt, especially his aunt, and develops more compassion for other people and a resolve to go to church and behave better.
