Who makes his decisions based on logic not on what he thinks God told him to do?

You don't have to be an atheist to elect an atheist. I'm atheist, but i don't mind voting for liberal Jesus following christians.

For those on the right, would you not vote for an atheist liberterian?

You will not see an atheist president when around 68% of the US population is Christian. Not to mention the other religions that are out there. If the president is to represent the people then more often then not he will have some form of religion.

No, because more people believe in God than not in America. An atheist wouldn't have a chance, and too many people would bring his/her morals into question, regardless if said person was perfectly moral.
I would not vote for a Libertarian. I am Republican, and those values from my party are also mine.

Who is running as an atheist? I think you have always been free to vote for such. And the rest of America has always been free to vote for a Christian.

Atheist President? We have a ways to go. Here is the probable order of non-WASP, male presidents:

1. Non-protestant white president (male or female)--Kennedy only non Protestant president
2. White-female president
3. Non-white male president
4 Third party white male president
5. Non-white female
6. Extremist president (of any race or gender)
7. Non-religious white male president. ***LONG TIME****

I certainly wouldn't mind voting for an Atheist president based on his OTHER views (vs. his atheism).

I wouldn't vote for him on that basis, however, just as I wouldn't vote for a female president specifically because she is female, a black president specifically because he is black, etc.

Race ... creed ... gender or sexual preference - NOT PART OF THE ISSUE!

I do not think religion is important in such matters. Although I do believe that religion and politics should keep themselves to themselves. And that means God should not tell anything to any president.... especially stupid ones.

I think their have been numerous atheist presidents and leaders, who claimed a religion to get the vote, support for an agenda, etc, etc. "So my rents will think gud of me..." you get it.

If the atheist was a democrat, than I would. I am thinking about being an atheist (my grandma was very big on 'there's a god and if you don't believe in him, you will go to hell and melt'), so I would IF he/she was a democrat.
