I have about 10 books that I have read and reread for years. I've probably read Catcher In the Rye, Walden Pond and The Stranger 20 times each, at least. I have several other books I read again whenever I get the chance. I've had many people tell me it's pretty strange to read the same book again and again, since nothing new ever happens. Is there anyone out there like me? What books are you stuck on? (I don't mean things you read 2 times, I mean the ones you consider your 'bible'.)

I've read Catcher in the Rye so many times I wore it out, so to speak ! Great book. Also books by H G Wells and Jules Verne. I also loved The Tao of Pooh. No, it's not strange at all. What is strange is people who don't read.

I can't tell you how many times I have read The Lord of the Rings, any one of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books, The Mists of Avalon by Bradley, The Outlander series by Diane Gabaldon, The Clan of the Cave Bear series, and the list goes on. I have a shelf of "keepers" that I always turn to when I have nothing to read or am looking for an "old friend". From Steve Barry, to Mark Twain from Andrew Greeley to Anne Rice....my takes are wide and varied and I love my books. The trick is to never limit yourself and always be willing to try a new author....you never know what jewels you might find between the covers of a book.

Oh I definitely have several I've read repeatedly over the years. And it makes sense to me to reread them. For one it's like visiting old friends, and for two, don't you watch a movie again and again and pick up new things each time? Rereading at a different age gives you a different perspective too, so the book can speak to you on another level.

Some of my long term favorites are "Mists of Avalon", "Bridge to Forever", and "Sacajawea" by Anna Waldo. Harry Potter has been added to my more current list of frequent reads. Hey, I admit it.

I have also read Catcher in the Rye a few times and have just finished my fourth or fifth re-reading of Lloyd Douglass's The Robe. This is an excellent book about what happens to the robe of Jesus after he is crucified and the effect that it has on all who touch it

The book Go Ask Alice I can't even count how many times I have read that book. Wonderful account of a teenage drug addict. Being older I haven't read it in a long time, but that book has had an amazing influence on me. It pretty short I have been able to read it in one night before staying up all night of course.

oh, yes, whole series in fact. Dragonriders of Pern, some books by Mercedes Lackey, Legacy (Elizabeth I novel) by S. Kay, even some mysteries by Dorothy L. Sayers (talk about nothing new!), and the Outlander series by Gabaldon. To name a few.

The only books I've ever read over and over and over again are all of the Harry Potter books. I love them!

Sure, I reread my fav books all the time. Lots of people watch their fav movies repeatedly and they don't think that is strange. Besides for me books are like movies in my head.
