Two reasons I would imagine - you don't very often see men 'wailing' where as women throw themselves about in a dramatic way.
Also women cry with emotion more than men - women can cry at something beautiful, men tend to cry for a more sober reason. (With the exception of the birth of their children)
Edit - as to how often women cry - well putting up with some men would make you cry every day lol

I'm sorry, Flying Horse - but how much will this research cost? And how long will it take? And is there a guarantee of an outcome that will make significant change in a realistic time frame? How much more time and money will be spent on these such research projects? And is there ever a result that justifies the cost? Couldn't that research money be better spent? Couldn't it assist programs that actually assist men or women in the attainment of skills that will put them on a level playing field toward equality???

I think it's because men are not emotional. If they have a same little problem as the women's problem, women maybe cry, but they do not cry. They will cry if they have serious problems. And if women have the same problem as the men's big problem, women will cry. So, men are tougher than women.

Women are born with the cry hormone.
Men have the dry-eye hormone.
So when a man cries, you better take him seriously!

Because men don't cry as easily as women, so when a guy cries it is taken more seriously!

because we've been conditioned that women are masters of emotional control and are supposed to cry, and can also fake it if they need to. we still hold men weak if they cry in spite of media insisting that it's a sign of strength to show emotion. while a strong man is supposed to be able to shed the emotional tear deep down we still see it as weak even if it's appropriate. MEN are supposed to be pillars of emotional support, so if we do cry it's supposed to mean more because we're supposed to hold it in and support everyone else.

Did you know some women hardly ever cry? Coz they hold everything in and refuse to let anyone see them cry. So those researchers are foolish....

because women are crying all the time about stupid sh*t (ie sale at neiman marcus ended prematurely, the supermarket discontinued favorite brand of ice cream, these jeans used to fit me but i'm fat, etc.,)
men cry for good reasons, like death, and heartbreaking sports melt downs.
The last time I cried was game 7 of the 2001 world series. which, ironically, was also the last time i beat a man to tears. f*ckin mets fan cheering for the arizona diamondbacks to win the world series only two months after 9/11. the only person i ever intentionally hurt who deserved it
