i am 27 weeks..
Sometimes, it is like the baby moves all the way to one side of my belly, and balls up.. i can see everything shift to the right.. kinda hurts.. (well, it is just a little uncomfortable :) ) I am pretty sure that it is not a braxton hicks.. because i get those all over the uterus, and this is just one side.. whats he doing in there?? is that his head?? butt?? lol!!! how can i tell?? thanks!!

My oldest used to do that...he simply preferred the left side of my body over stretching out. He still sleeps all balled up like that...so it must be something with him!! I could usually tell if it was his butt sticking out because it was bigger than his head, AND because I could feel his feet sorta kick towards my back. One time he stuck his foot so far out that I got this huge bump that looked like that scene in Aliens when the monster broke thru the guys chest. It was freaky!!

You might not truly be able to tell whether it's his head or butt...or what until you're a little further along and get used to feeling it. If you can tell at all.

Good luck.

My son is always in a ball right in the middle of my stomach. Sometimes it feels like he is going to pop right through my belly button! However, he will stretch out sometimes and only kicks on my left side. Strange, isn't it? I got a sonogram about a week ago and the doctor was telling me where everything was and it was just within a small circle. You could see his feet up near his head. Your baby can still move around a lot right now, but within the next month or two, his movement is going to slow down a lot... as far as the major shifting goes.

My youngest, when he was head down in position, would sweep his butt across the top of my belly like a windshield wiper, over and over.... My oldest would try to stretch out as much as possible - and when he was doing that I needed to stand up or lay down to give him room or suffer quite a bit of discomfort.

At 27 weeks your baby has free reign in your uterus - mine would go in circles, twisting and twisting. Its normal, weird, and sometimes it hurts. At least one mom I know had her ribs broken by one of her babies because he was inside of her ribs and pushing out. I'd take the slight discomfort over that.

Same thing has been happening to me! He moves to one side or the other. If you can feel two lumps and can feel kicking in your ribs, than he is pushing his butt or his back out and is already head down. Pretty cute, isn't it?

It can be the baby, but its probably contractions. You get braxton hicks in just one side, or one quarter of your belly. Just like you're describing. The baby moving and pushing in a certain area can cause them.

Theyre normal.

The movements are normal - they're signs of life. Big boy, can't wait to come out I guess!
