Is this Bush's way to supplement the economy of Mexico? The U.S. has spent over $1,000,000,000,000 on the drug war and it is not working. Why send another dime to these countries?

DC, the problems you mention already exist with the "war on drugs." However, decriminalizing drugs would remove many of the nonviolent offenders from our prison system...people who really don't belong there.

Look, I know drugs can ruin peoples lives, but millions of people use them now. How about letting people show a little personal responsibliity like they do with alcohol? There will always be those who abuse, but we are just throwing money away on the war on drugs. Educate the people, help those with addition problems and give people the personal autonomy to make decisions for themselves.

Ali, you are right. If we really wanted to stop drug use, we would start killing drug dealers and send all users to prison for life.

But that would basically turn our country into a police state and that is unacceptable.

Crime fuels the system without it you wouldn't need cops, guns or lawyers or politicians

That's really just a drop in the bucket compared to the two billion dollars a week spent on the failing war in Iraq.

Why not? What else would we do with the money? Might as well give it to corrupt Mexican policeman and generals.

Anyways, gotta go to work and tell some parents that their kid can't get chemo and EPO today unless they somehow find $2000 after their insurance declines the treatment.

Two choices, ignore it or attempt to stop it. If you have better suggestions on how to stop it send those ideas to your representaves for legislation. If your choice is to ignore the drug problem then be prepared for the outcome on Health Care, Employment, over crowded prisons etc...
