Check out the link in my source list. It looks like the US is somewhere in the middle.
Take care,

i don't know if this is an insult on my country or not
but other countries have more murders and are more dangerous
although you hear a lot about murders in local and national news in the US, most murders are well, insular matters
what i mean is, is that many people who are murdered are "in the game"
they are selling drugs, taking drugs, and involved in other illegal activity
i am not saying that these people's lives are not valuable, just saying that being murdered for what you are doing or your job is not the same as being RANDOMLY murdered
many of the "dangerous" neighborhoods of the U S are not really dangerous unless you are doing something wrong
now, if you happen to be somewhere (it could be in the U S or another country) and you can get hit with a bullet just by walking down the street, then that is a lot more dangerous
or being randomly kidnapped or robbed

The United States based on UN data has the highest crime rates of any country on Earth (except Homicide per capita) which fluctuates. For quite awhile our amigos down under the Aussies had a higher rate than the USA!
But the USA has the notable disctinction of having the highest rates of violent crimes in general robberies, hate crimes, sexual assaults, common assault and battery, spousal abuse, child rape, child abuse and usually hits the top five in the non-violent crimes like petty larceny, GTA etc.
In comparison, Germany where I lived for three years had a homicide rate about 1/10th that of the USA (per capita) and a rape rate of 1/100th the rate of the USA. Canada has rates considerably lower than Germany, despite being exposed to virtually the same media culture as the citizens of the USA. They watch the same movies, television shows, read the same books.
What's the difference? Is it gun laws? Not really.
Education is the no 1 reason for the difference in crime rates and the no 2 reason is the cultural atitudes towards sex and the human body. Educated people have better things to do than rob, rape and murder people whether they own guns or not and have a normal healthy humanistic attitude towards human sexuallity and the human body. In Germany and in France the women walk topless on the beaches and in some parks. Men don't harrass them or bother them in any way.
A woman walking topless on a beach in the USA, if she avoided harrassment by the pigs, would likely be pestered and harassed continually by stupid apish grinning mindless men raised in a trash culture---American street culture which is pure T trash.
Sexually repressed cultures, as in the Middle East have always been the most violent. The American attitudes towards sex in the opinion of educated people everywhere and among the common fellow in England, Ireland, France or Germany or even Russia for that matter is infantile, puerile, retarded, superstitious, ignorant and pathetically backwards.
Do you want to create a group of violent people? Just teach them that WOMAN is the temptress, sex is a sin unless restricted in a very narrow way, teach men and women to despise their bodies and view it with shame. Teach them that gays and lesbians are the enemies of God and State and ignore violence against them, even encourage it, then pass out a lot of guns, knives and bombs and enjoy the show.
Europeans simply cannot understand a culture like the United States that allows the most horrific violence to be shown in films and to children, but a naked breast, a bare ***, oh that's EVIL! An English email pal and former colleague of mine wrote me after all the hubbub about Janet Jackson's "wardrobe" malfunction and said "Are you yanks a country of retards?" another Englishman pondered why the Americans would try to get rid of a good president over a petty sex scandal and wrote "What's the problem with you bloody yanks?"
Yes, indeed, what is our problem, that is the question.

The question is put badly. What matters is the rate per 100,000 people and the figures are as follows:-
Belarus 10.5
Brazil 23.0
China 1.8
Colombia 61.6
El Salvador 55.6
Finland 2.2
France 0.7
Germany 0.9
Mexico 15.9
Russia 21.6
United States 6.9
So the answer is that you are ten times more likely to be murdered in America than in France, but 10 times less likely in the US than in El Salvador.
America's insane gun laws contribute to very high rates of death among young black males, plus a very high incidence of accidental shootings.

well the usa has a relatively low population compared to some countries. our 300 million is nothing compared to china's 1 billion! crime in some of these super-densely populated countries is much worse than in the u.s. think about their per capita crime rate. scary. so to answer your question, i would say there are more killers around the world, than in the us of a. i think the african countries have some of the worst statistics, however, it's sort of a different kind of killing over there.

I think we're up there pretty high with the murder rate with a murder to population ratio, I know for a fact that we are number one when it comes to gun crimes.
