9x^2 - 16 = 0

(3x - 4) (3x + 4) = 0

x = - 4/3
x = 4/3

9x^2 = 16
9x^2 - 16 = 0

Use this theorem to factor it:
(a^2 - b^2) = (a + b)(a - b)

So, 9x^2 - 16 = 0
(3x + 4)(3x - 4) = 0
x = ± (4/3)

Isolate the x:

x² = (16/9)

Take the ± square root of each side:

x = ± √(16/9) = ± 4/3

So, x= 4/3 or x = -4/3

9x²-16 = 0
(3x+4)(3x-4) = 0
x = 4/3 or -4/3

Get constants on one side, variables on the other. You do this by dividing both sides by 9:
x^2=16/9
Then take the square root:
x=+/- 4/3
Don't forget the +/- (there are two roots)!
