Yea, but if they are 450 lbs, that means they have a hard time walking, and therefore would need assistance such as the scooter.
They shouldn't be discriminated against because of size. Most don't get obese from eating, most have medical problems, so we shouldn't look down on them.
You just be thankful that YOU can walk from the far end of the parking lot, and don't need a handicapped sticker, or scooter for help.

I completely agree when it comes to obesity in most cases it is a personal choice and only a fraction of those are medically responsible. Besides the number of obese citizens is growing by the minute, therefore if they were granted handicapped privileges then perhaps there would no longer be handicapped parking spaces or scooters because there are so many. I imagen that obesity is difficult to live with but they must consider the fact that people that are granted handicapped privileges are granted them because they truly need it. Being considered a Handicap is not a privilege that everyone can take advantage of solely because even they would give up this title for the chance to function as others do.

First of all, you don't know why these people are fat. Some are fat because they are lazy, dont eat healthy, and never exercise. Some are fat because of medical reasons. Either way, it should be a good thing that they haven't let their weight stop them from doing normal things like going to a supermarket. If they need mobility to do so, then by all means, let them do it. It has nothing to do with you. Also, there are dozens upon dozens of handicap parking spaces at major stores, so its not like finding a handicap place will be hard. PLUS handicap people don't HAVE to park in a handicap space. They can park in a regular spot if they choose. Im 5ft 3, 18 years old, and about 98 pounds and probably more mature than you. Grow up. I dont think being overweight is the best thing in the world seriously (because i play volleyball & run track), but if it doesnt involve you or interfere with your life then why bother complaining about it.

Absolutley not. Its just another excuse to be lazy and put on another 10 pounds a day. Walking does wonders, obese and bigger people should try it sometime. Can I have a handicapped sticker? I am skinny as a rail but I get real tired sometimes. Thats how stupid that sounds. Not your question, just the thought that people get that kind of treatment and expect sympathy when the majority (notice I didn't say all) of the time, people are bigger because they do it to themselves. I just can't feel bad, its actually irrating and frustrating.
Don't get me wrong, if they are actually sick, or have a medical condition and they can't help it, then yes, but only in those circumstances.

I think some of those people want to feel loved or cared for. So they take up more space and get a sticker and motocart for their efforts. I feel sorry for them, not angry. But you are absolutely right. It is RARELY a medical, versus mental, problem, causing the obesity. The obesity might even dwindle down to mere overweightness if they would just walk instead! Even if they kept eating garbage food.

I agree. I don't care if a person with a broken leg uses the motor scooter, or a very elderly person. But a very obese person in one angers me. No wonder they're obese, they can't even get a little exercise walking through Wal-Mart! And an absolute no to the handicapped stickers. These people NEED to be walking!

I don't think they should if it is not for some uncontrollable existing medical condition.
I also believe that anyone who can't walk without trouble shouldn't be driving. If their reaction time is slow and they have trouble moving their legs too fast how are they going to slam on the brakes if they need to avoid an accident or something? We don't allow drunk people to drive because of delayed reaction time, so what about others with delayed reaction times?
Also we need to start requiring people take a drivers exam every 5 years of so because it seems like people immediately forget everything they learned when they first started driving.

if I offend anyone, Im sorry in advance. But I do not think they should, unless they have a severe medical condition that lead to obesity or they are extremely obese and cannot walk. They need to park in the back and walk, not saying this in a mean way, but it is a small way for them to get exercise instead of being 'lazy' and parking right up front

I agree! I do have compassion for those who are obese due to medical conditions, but NONE for those who apply for SSI and handicapped stickers because they are too lazy to walk across the parking lot! If only they realized that IF they would walk, they wouldn't be obese, and wouldn't have to park close to the store and use the motor scooter!

Your "observation" is inaccurate. How can you tell me that you can tell just by looking at a person whether they have a medical condition or not? If you can, you would be a miracle.
