My driving instructor gave me a pretty good formula for parallel parking that works with most cars.

1. Pull up next to the car in front of the space, about 1 foot away from it.

2. While still stopped, turn the steering wheel one revolution to the right.

3. Back up until your front bumper is even with the rear bumper of the car in front of the space.

4. Stop, and while stopped, turn the steering wheel all the way to the left. (Not the best on tires, but it's a cool easy way to park)

5. Back up until you're in the space.

This formula works really well, and you don't have to pull forward once you're in the space. Also, your wheels will already be turned to the left when you get back in the car to leave, so you can drive right out...provided the same car is still in front of you and not someone who parked closer.

For reversing around a corner:

1. Back straight up until your rear wheels reach the start of the corner.

2. Turn the steering wheel about one revolution to the right. (I assume you are turning onto a street/driveway that is behind you and to your right).

3. Trace the curb with your rear wheels. (you may need to do some steering adjustment) Your front end will be further away from the curb than the back.

4. Once your rear wheels reach the end of the corner, the car should be lined up with the driveway or street you are backing into, but the nose of the car will still be out in the first street.

5. Straighten the front wheels and continue backing up until you are clear of the 1st street.

You are essentially driving a forklift when you drive a car in reverse. If you have a toy forklift or any toy that turns the tires when you turn the steering wheel, you can practice this way. I learned how to back up trailers by playing with toy trucks on the coffee table.

Good luck. Relax...you'll do fine! Practice it a little before the test so you're more comfortable.

Most important thing you need to remember: it does NOT have to be PERFECT. Driving is not something that comes naturally.

Parallel parking: line up your car to where it's sitting virtually even with the car you're going to park behind. Then reverse, and cut the wheel almost all the way and start backing up until the car is angled at about 10:00 on a round face clock. Then start cutting the wheel back and the car will just sorta fall into place. Once you're in the spot you'll have to pull up a bit to leave the car you pulled in front of room to get out. Go slow! (As a side note, it's also worth mentioning that since I've had my license [over 10 years now], I've NEVER had to parallel park. Don't worry about mastering it or anything, but certainly get your practice in.)

Reversing round corners: don't start turning until the back half of the car has passed the "curb", and just round the corner with the road; just "follow" the road with the steering wheel.

Don't worry, you'll do fine if these are the only things you can't do. These aren't situations you'll come across driving every day in the real world.

parralel parking

pull up along side of the car or cone until your side mirror is in line with either the cars mirror or the cone turn your wheel to the right until your about 1 foot away from the curb then straightin the wheel.

reversing around corners, your mirros are very important in backing up. look on your side mirrors, find the curb and guide around it.

to park you need to turn the wheel hard like your going to back up on to the curb and then swing it in just before the tire
toches the curb and then pull foward
