Start out your paper listing the duties of a cometologist. The for schooling requirements try googling your city and the words "cosmetology training". Cosmetology requires 'beauty school' but it all depends on what you want to do. Do you want to cut hair, do nails, give pedicures or do makeup? Usually you'll pick one or two of these specialties and study that.

In order to take up some space in your essay, write about the different topics. Like what does an esthitician do? What does a makeup artist do? What does a hairdresser do? It might seem basic, but just write.

Pay is quite varied and usually you start out with low pay and as you get your own salon or move up into a posh salon, your pay can increase dramatically. Starting out doing haircuts for 10$ isn't going to pay much.

Really, the best way to learn is to go find someone and ask. Most people are willing to help so if you go into a nail salon and say, "I'm studying nail design, and I was wondering if you'd be able to answer some questions about the industry." Usually they'll say yes, if not, don't get discouraged, find someone else. Most people love to talk about themselves, so it shouldn't be that bad.

For a closing paragraph, why not state what interests you about cosmetology. Do you like making the world beautiful? Do you view it as form of art? Do you like that it's constantly evolving?

If you're really drawing a blank, for your article about makeup artistry, you could toss in a brief history, or talk about what makeup people use around the world. (In Morocco, they have these red rocks that they use for lipstick! I was there 2 years ago...it was so neat! And they used these bundles of mint sticks for toothbrushes...)...here's some pages: http://www.fashion-era.com/make_up.htm , http://www.webmd.com/skin-beauty/guide/history-makeup , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmetics

Cosmetology Career Information

Cosmetology Career Outlook and Salary Information
(Demand is high, and according to the United States Department of Labor, salaried hairstylists and cosmetologists earn about $19,00 per year on average, but some can earn more than $35,000! Not bad for a short program; most cosmetology schools help their students find jobs after less than two years of classes.)

Cosmetology Career Traits and Characteristics
**********A good head for business and an excellent work ethic will serve you well if you decide to pursue a career in cosmetology.

Two things are important to survive as a cosmetologist: a strong personality and a strong body. Many hairstylists end up functioning as a therapist to their clients as well as a stylist! Be prepared to listen to everything from marital conflicts to worries about your clients’ appearance and weight. Diplomacy and tact will take you a long way, as well as the refusal to let negative comments or clients angry with an unsatisfactory cut ruin your day.***************

there is a website for the National Cosmetology Association, you might want to go there and do some research.
