Many of these fathers suffer mentally and emotionally. They are required, and they should be to pay child support if the mother chooses to have the child. Why would they not have something to say about aborting it as well? This would be fair and require all envolved to be responcible for their actions.

Diane M, your answer is not a fair statement. Why should the father not have the same right as the mother.Should he not be able to say if you have this baby I don't want to be a part of it, I choose to abort my fatherhood.I don't agree with this thought in the least.I think that its terrible that people can't be more responcible fortheir actions. Its worse yet that a child can must die, so they can live as they want to, father and mother. Both parties need to be responcible for their actions.

I sure hope that some day soon, we can get to that point, since many people say "it takes two to tango" and "he should have kept it in his pants", then why not have it to where BOTH parents discuss and decide on the outcome of the pregnancy, if he wants itshe doesnt why not have the child and sign rights over to him? Why is it only the woman who gets "choices" when it comes to the irresponsible acts of two people?

While I DO agree that abortion is NOT a viable solution!!
I also KNOW that your statement regarding, that "many" potential fathers go through mental/emotional suffering is not as true as you may think it is? The point being that IF these men REALLY cared about that "baby" and it's Mother, then they would have had the decency to marry the girl in the first place, or after she became pregnant! The majority of men actually want very little, if anything at all to do with the child, or the mother, once the child has been conceived. The courts are FULL of cases where the mother's are TRYING their level best to get the father's to pay the support they either promised to pay at one time, or were forced to pay, and yet have not done so! Since the woman is the one that carries the burden of not only having the child, she is also the one that will intimately decide what happens in that child's lifetime, since she is most likely the only one of the 2 parents that will stay with that child. I do understand where you are coming from, and it would be AWESOME IF potential fathers would stand up and be counted, but unfortunately the odds are NOT in favor of that happening. God will & does hold us ALL accountable for our actions, even the murder of the unborn baby!

I've thought about this. The sad fact is that pro-abortionists will not even agree that the unborn baby IS in fact a baby.

If the baby is not a baby--then the father is not a father. (Neither is the mother a mother.) Thus, they get out of agreeing that either of the parents have the rights / responsibilities that should belong them. (This issue bleeds over into the government stepping in and getting involved in cases where the parents are doing nothing wrong--just not raising the child as the government decrees is "correct"...) Isn't this a messed up society we are living in?

I agree with you. IF there is a decision to be "made" regarding their baby, the fathers should have a part in making the decision too. However, in our society, many don't even know they *are* the father! And if they do, and aren't married to the mother, many opt for the easy way out: a denial of their responsibility.

IMO, abortion should be illegal. It takes a *true* man to step up and take care of responsibilities in a positive and God pleasing way (not what is perceived as the easy way out) for all involved.

Not only is is fair to sue a women but you should be given the right to stick a powerful vacuum up her coochy and suck the life out of her as well.
Or if she chose a diff form of abortion, you should choose a similar form of death for her.
Because really, after all it would make things easier or less stressful to abort her also.
Shes a pig and whoever is God will return the favor with a life of regret and misery.

if it were up to me then abortion would be illegal, but it's not up to me and never will be. but i think your on to something here, i bet if he got a good enough attorney that he could fight his case. it's not fair that he has no say so on the life of his own child, if she doesn't want it, then she can give it to him, but she shouldn't have the right to abort it because she doesn't feel like dealing with her responsibilities. i know the law says that it's the womans body and her right to do what she wants with it regardless of the fathers wishes, but it's also the babies life, and the baby is a part of the dad, he should have a say so too.

I'm sorry I will get a lot of e-mails about this, but here goes. I do not believe that it should be either one of them's choice, the choice was made when they layed down and did the crime. And I'm sure this has been said many times and I still stand by it, "You do the crime you should do the time. This child is a human and it is so strange how our laws our so double standard, If some one shot a woman that is pregnant and the baby dies the person can be got for murder however if the woman lays down and the doctor kills the baby then that is okay. We will all stand before and Mighty God one day and answer for this.

When the only possible decision in these matters is one based on who has the right to do what, the only thing that becomes clear is that God was right many centuries ago and still is.

A number of legal cases have arisen around the world in which men have tried to prevent women with whom they had been sexually active from obtaining an abortion, all of which failed.

Why not look up; Wikipedia - Paternal rights and Legal cases?

I agree. If the baby is born, then the father is to pay child support and if the mother, without the fathers knowledge puts the baby up for adoption, the father then has all types of recourse. I don't understand the logic of not involving the father in the decision to abort or not abort. It's his sperm and the woman would not be pregnant without it.

No, it is not possible, the law put forth the act of letting it be the womans right to choose, because she is the one is carrys the baby, births the baby, and in 99% of the time, she becomes the primary source of food, and love. The law and most woman, see the man as a mere donor of some strands of DNA, and if they had thier say in it, Women would be forced to make decisions they don't want to. I do agree, that all couples or partners should discuss it. I don't believe in abortions period, but since the law thinks they need to be legal, my opinion is that all couples with an abortion decision to be made, should be required to go through groups meetings or thearapy and ger prefessional help to deide what they really want to do.

There was a case about a year ago, where a young man was suing to get out of child support. Of course, my first reaction was anger, but then I listened to his side of the story, and he had an excellent point.

His argument was that he would have had no say if she had aborted the baby, so why is he forced to pay for it?

I don't LIKE the argument, but I think he certainly had a valid point.
