The war in Iraq will have cost in 2017, 2.400.000.000.000 billion dollars in the United States and there are 300.000.000 million of living in the United States. If the gouvernement will have given this money to the people ,if I calculation well ,that does 8000 dollars by living.
what do you think about this ?

I would like to see how it compares to the Vietnam war in terms of constant dollars and percent of per capita GDP.

I know for a fact that this has to be at least 2 or 3 orders of magnitude less than WWII in terms of constant dollar and percentage of per capita (and total) GDP.

But since most people are not well educated in History or Economics, they just take it as fact that big numbers are bad. But to put it in terms that most people will understand, a movie like "Gone with the Wind" grossed a lot less in terms of number of dollars than just about any crappy movie made today, but if you correct for inflation, it is still one of the top grossing films of all time. And whatever the record for top grossing film is right not, it will certainly be beaten in a few years, not because more people will go to see it, but due to inflation.

Bottom line, as the economy and GDP grow, these numbers become minuscule. I'm not saying it's not bad, but it's not the end of the world either. I would be more worried about the effects on the ecomony due to the inevitable rising price of oil (as supply decreases and world demand increases), the burden on social programs caused by criminal immigrants (illegal aliens), and the strains on health care and social security once all the baby boomers start getting old (the first baby boomer applied for social security last week). This war is just a blip, a minor distraction, the real problems are too big to warrant debate by the people who might be able to do something about them.
