Never. Still to this day, money is extracted from SS to pay for other programs, such as welfare.

Never ever. The SSA tax is a tax on the poor. The idea that current contributions are used to pay current benefits is a scam. The excess contributions are used for general revenues and is a disguise to even out the overall tax burden such that the poor and the more affluent all pay about 30 percent plus in taxes. However, Social Security benefits should continue and the same entitlement formulas should be used but the foolishness of pretending there is such a thing as a Social Security Trust fund should be discontinued. Since the excess funds are used for general revenues, it stands to reason that general revenues should be used to pay any upcoming shortfalls. Politicians should quit screaming that the sky is falling as a pretense to cut benefits to the elderly and disabled and increase taxes to the poor.

Oh, that Reagan and Bush SR and Clinton used to pay interest on the debt??? That was a plan to get rid of the program but it hasn't quite worked out that way yet. At the rate we are incurring debt with this conservative president it will probably be a while before any debts are being paid on. I'm not so sure they don't ahve a plan to bankrupt our country entirely, that would leave only corporations to run things, isn't that what we have now almost???? I'm convince there is a big secret plan being pressed upon us one step at a time and the end result isn't going to benefit the majority of us.

Ask any accountant and they will tell you that our country is a broke nation. We are literally spending borrowed money from other countries. This habit has been our government's biggest weakness. Because now those governments we own billions and trillions to now can use those debts to influence our policies to their favor.
