My little craft business has grown & I'm in need of a name for it.
75% of my stock is wooden items that I handcraft & then personalize them at customers request on site via woodburning. The other 25% are items that are either made from or reflect "nature" in a 'woodsy/foresty' fashion.
Based on the imagery I want the name and logo to reflect (which is a forest fairy), my friends/family & myself came up w/a list of 20 which I've cut down to 5....
I NEED YOUR VOTES on which one to use!

1-EarthFaire Gifts & Decor

2-The Woody Nook (OR The Wooded Nook)

3-Village Charm (OR Country Villa Craftworks)

4-Gifts from the Hearth (Yes, Hearth...not 'heart')

5-...my name's....Earthy Treasures

Thanks for your answers!!

The Woody Nook has that definitive charm. I would certainly remember a name like that.

Good luck with your business! How exciting it must be to see your hobby grow!

Out of the five names you've narrowed it down to, I'd say "The Wooded Nook" is the best.

The rest of the titles don't really capture your merchandise. Earthy Tresuares is good--but people might mistake it for "Earthly Treasures"--and it sounds like a metaphysical shop (as does "EarthFaire")(Speaking of "Earth Faire", I think some people would mis-pronounce it. Is it "fairy" or "fair"? )

Village Charm and Gifts from the Hearth are a bit too overused, and I've seen those titles before in "quaint" downtown shops everywhere.

Please consider what I'm about to say. I travel around a lot and I enjoy going to small downtown shops or little tourist-drawn shopping districts throughout the country; but I'm noticing that even though they may be individually "mom and pop" owned--they're pretty much all the same. There's only so many scented candles, floral soaps, and whicker baskets filled with Aunt Lydia's jam people want to buy.

Also, a lot of these shops market themselves (through their names and decor) for little ol' granny's. Yes, granny's are customers too (and good ones!); but all too often I notice places unintentionally ignore the younger generation. Not everyone wants to walk in a place where it feels like they're about to have tea served on doilies.

I know you're not serving tea nor do you specialize in scented candles; BUT; you are classifying yourself into that same tired category with names like "Gifts from the Hearth" or "Country Village Craftworks"(no offense!).

I think the name should be "spunky" and "fun" --half the trick to getting people to check out your store or visit your website is if you have a cool name--so don't take choosing a name lightly! I was in a small town the other weekend and there were two coffee shops. One was called "The Daily Brew" and the other one was called "Cosmic Coffee" --guess which one was packed! (hint, it was 'out of this world'!). I know you want a name that lures the clientelle seeking your product---but they've been lured to your product already even without the name--

If you don't mind, why don't you consider these suggestions:

1. "Sticks and Stones" and your motto can be "Where wood will never hurt you!")

2. "I Hearth Wood" (instead of I heart wood)

3. "The Fairy'd Treasure" (play off of "buried" treasure by capturing the fairy theme)

4. "Little Wood Fairies "(light and fun! makes people want to know more)

5a. "Wood-borne Wonders" or 'Wooded Wonders" or, "Wonderful World of Wood", those are good because the more of the same letter you can have your title, the catchier it is)

5b. "The Forest Fairy" (again, the two 'f's create a nice ring to the name).

5c. "Tinder Treasure" or "The Timber Tinder"

6. "Tinder Loving Care"

I think you should also offer specially engraved wedding ring (or jewelery) boxes--and the ad for those could be "Wood you "fairy" me?: Fairy-kissed treasures for the bride to be . . ."

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

I like "the wooded nook" but they are all great names. Just for a little business tip... The farther down the alphabet you go... the harder it is for people to find a botique shop like yours in the phone book. If you want your name to stand out in a catergory pick a name that starts with an "a" if you can. "A warm Hearth", "A woodland secret" or even "A Gift from the Hearth". Surprisingly where you apear in the phone book is important. However, this should not stop you for choosing the name that makes you happy. Good Luck :)

Def. Woody Nook, but I also like the Wooded Nook, sounds a lil more proper and formal.

Cute Names!

You know you could also use those other names for a side line of your products, category this this and that under Earthy Treasures, etc that way you get to use names you like

Good Luck!
