Americans objectify women. Women are led to believe their worth is based on looks, playboy covers not on character or intelligence. Anna Nicole Smith, Monroe & Brittney r revered. If your not size 6 or under, your looked down upon.
Americans wont even let a woman be President. Many women have tried to run, but y have no females won?
R u telling me that over 200 years of freedom and not 1 female was good enough to be president in this free country??

Muslim &3rd world countries have had female Presidents/Prime Ministers You'd think USA where everyone should be equal would have caught up.

Those who say Muslim men stone/abuse their women: American men don't have to abuse their women. The women are already abusing their own bodies. A false sense of freedom when they say women can choose. YET.American females starve themselves(by CHOICE?) to death and engage in self destructive, promiscuity(getting diseases) and imposing silicone and unnatural substances in their bodies to be accepted.

Sadly I think that you are 100% right, and it's not only in the US, although it seems to me that women in France and Spain, but also in Scandinavia, have a bit more resilience to the dictates of fashion, which is curious in a way, since they mostly got legal equality much later then elsewhere in Europe.

As far as I'm concerned, mostly women are doing it to themselves - and to each other. Hardly anybody these days is brought up to withstand group pressure. My daughter told a friend once that she would not be interested in a fellow who was only attracted by her looks, when she was told that she "should do something with her hair", and if most women shared that sentiment they would not spend billions on chemicals and surgeons to make themselves look younger or more attractive. In principle it's the same story as designer clothes, nearly everybody is desperate to be "in", it just happens that the price for that is much higher for women.

Also, believe that especially fundamentalist Christians, in exactly the same way as Muslims, manage to instill in their women such a feeling of inferiority and self-loathing that these women simply can't conceive of another woman being able to fill a top job in gouvernment. They seem to be also the most vocal in condemning any female candidates that also have a family for neglecting them in favour of "playing at politics".
Besides, most political parties are male societies and work against women getting elected, simply by excluding women from the "inner circles" where the real decisions are planned and canvassed.

I'm not particularly fond of Hilary Clinton's politics (I'm a rose-red lefty, European style), but she seems not to be worse than any other candidate, either. So I was quite astonished at the venom that is being poured out on sites like this, and still can't quite understand it.

Some Americans might hate women but in reality, those that ‘hate’ women are threatened by them and want them to be subservient to them so they are really afraid of women. How exactly would that make them hypocrites, to be a hypocrite they’d have to claim to love women while hating them. Yes, women can and are objectified by many men and women as well because it makes money and gets the attention of young and old men. Girls are led to believe that their worth is based on their looks by who, other women, specifically their moms. Who does all that makeup, and hair the ‘girly’ stuff, the father no my dear it is the mother or the girl’s friends who are girls, older sisters of their friends, or their friends’ moms. Britney spears is a product of her mother not ‘Americans’ she was crafted and marketed as she was to appeal to young men since they won’t listen to her music as well as young girls who having been brainwashed by their moms and the media need her to look a certain way for her to be ‘cool’. Character and personality really don’t come across in video clips or posters and ad spots so that is why those women who excel in those traits are not known for them. You are right some Americans are afraid to have a woman president, many might just be afraid to have Hillary as our President I know I am, it has nothing to do with her being a woman though I’m sure you won’t believe me. Some Muslim countries still make their women cover their bodies from head to toe and won’t let a woman go out on her own without a man accompanying her. What’s wrong with this picture, well you have latent anger and are misdirecting it at all Americans when it should be reflected back at other women who perpetuate the idea that women need to look a certain way to be worth anything. You also seem confused as to the way America works, which is why you don’t understand the real reasons behind the way things are. Using an example of a Muslim female prime minister when there are many more Muslim countries that treat women like property is another thing ‘wrong with this picture’.

Democracy gives you the right to choose. (And remember in America women have had the right to vote for less than 100 years) So far, we have not chosen to have a woman president. There has only been one woman on a national ballot, as a vice presidential candidate, and the presidential candidate was a loser. I certainly know people who liked Dukakis but wouldn't vote for her running mate.

I don't want to elect a woman simply because she is a woman, which seems to be the core of your political point. Give me a strong and qualified woman candidate (which rules out Mrs CLinton) and I will vote for her/

The rest of your point is absolutely correct - women in American have CHOSEN the roles they fill, the models they follow. You may not like it - but better that than other countries where those roles are dictated.

To even compare us to Muslim is amazing. So your saying as an "american"That you think we dont have freedom in comparison to Muslim woman. Why dont you go over there and find out which country you like better!!! When you see woman walking down the streets, youll know who they are to cause they will be walking 5 feet behind a man fully covered from head to toe, and a man comes up to them, molests them or rapes them or far worse in the middle of the street and then finishs by beating her sensless. you let me know how that goes., And by the way do you like your woman parts. Cause when they are 13 or so their own fathers cut off there "happy" parts..So there is no pleasure at all in life for them. The point is they are not even given the choose to be a size six or to be blonde or to wear short skirts or to run for president! The only reason woman dont win presidency is because countries like iraq wont communicate with a woman or take our country seriously...we are a "young" country with more of an open mind then an "old" country like that....

I happen to love women and I get sick at all the attention bimbos like Spears and Nicole Smith receive. There are women just as nice to look at all over our country, and unlike these two they actually have personalities and can carry on a an intelligent conversation too.

You do realize that is a misconception? Many women do that to themselves, and have not been forced to in any by men. Also, you know how many women try to make men their play things? To many. One last thing, why should we have another Clinton in the White House? If Bill won't do her but just about any other women, there is a problem there.

Edit- Because they WANT to! Not because they are being pressured! You also realize that starving oneself, imposing silicone and other unnatural substances into their body also goes for men? Or are you just that blind?

And for the person below me, that was Wyoming, my state, also known as the Equality state.

Good question. If I see one more "reality show" that has some "hot" chick whoring herself out, I'm going to scream. This teaches girls to be "bitches and hos" instead of respectable women who can take care of themselves. It's very sad. The role models these days have no morals or values. If you're female and you don't have a sex tape out by 20, you have problems. It's very sad the way things are these days. The only thing that can change that is people tuning out and teaching their kids values and living that themselves.

What you have said is true. Women have been treated very roughly and not receiving payment as men are getting as well. Hopefully, that will change (Presidential Campaign 2008). But men have considered women to be week and not trustworthy. Today women are given a little more freedom such as the right to vote. But let me tell you something (no offense to the boys out their) boys are a little wacko in the head for thinking that because women are hard working people that deserve respect. We, women have been humiliated for too long. To this day women are still fighting for women's rights. We have not been given the opportunities. Men may contradict but all my friends agree with me (they are girls). America is also called the freedom country too. I also studied American history in depth.

you're an idiot then. No woman up until now has come close to running for president. There have been a couple elections where a woman was put on the ticket as the Vice Presidential candidate, but unfortunately those candidates haven't won.

Halfway in reading your description, I was asking myself, "What about countries where women can't even show their faces without getting beaten?" Then in the third paragraph came my answer. All those sentences are complete rubbish.

Atleast women have the right to CHOOSE what they do with THEIR lives. We don't make them marry a guy that WE choose.

You people are absurd.
