I'm almost 38 weeks pregnant and I've read about the burst of energy many women get during the last week or two of pregnancy. I've been feeling quite the opposite. I have almost no energy, just want to lie down all the time. Should I take this as a sign that I won't be having this baby soon or does everyone not experience the nesting instinct?

I feel the same as you. I am 37 weeks and 2 days, and have been feeling more lethargic lately. I haven't gotten that sudden rush to clean, clean, clean! I wish I would, because I still have so much to do...right now I feel like I could just go to sleep.

I don't know that it has any indication as to when labor will start...I don't think it does...not every woman goes into "nesting" mode before labor. But, interestingly enough, at my last appt., the dr. told me my cervix had not begun to dilate and there was no effacement...so, who knows? heh heh

Good luck and congratulations!

I felt sooo lazy at 38 weeks! My daughter was born at 41 weeks and I didnt get that nesting instinct until maybe 5 or 6 days before she was born. Then you couldnt get me to sit down. I was up constantly, mostly cleaning EVERYTHING! I even washed the walls. Which is weird because I hate housework. Maybe its because I worked up until my 39th week and I was bored after going on leave.

Not everyone experiences the nesting instinct. I had it with my first but not with my second. This pregnancy I got it at week 29 and I still have it at week 31. I can't stop cleaning!

I didnt have that nesting instinct until my son was nearly 3 months old. lol. I felt shitty the last week and a half of my pregnancy, like I was coming down with ebola or something.

I think a lot of women feel that way before labor.

Just eat right, drink water, rest, and hang in there. Its not forever, it just seems like it.

It's normal. I was the same way with both of my girls who where/are 5 years apart. The whole wanting to clean and burst of energy is really about how anixous you are for the baby to come. And how worried you are about having to get everything done before the baby gets here. The baby comes when the baby comes.
