because it's rich folks from california that are the victims this time bush & his cronies are now doing everything it can to save them. but where was that same help & sympathy for the victims of katrina 2 years ago? oops i forgot now i remember. its because it was poor minority folks that where affected & we all know how much the government wants to go out of their way to help them don't we? 2 years later victims of katrina are still waiting to be compensated but im sure they will have no problem compensating those rich celebrity folks in california.

The state of Louisiana failed those people, not the president.California is handling the situation very well, while Louisiana did not.And since the people affected in California were wealthy instead of a bunch of welfare recipients standing around waiting for the government to do something for them, they acted on their own. There is no double standard here, only some people who aren't willing to accept the truth.
And the truth is that the government goes out of it's way to help people, all people who are lazy and sorry enough to milk the system for all they can.Food stamps, wic, section 8 ,medicare, medicaid, affirmative action,W.I.A.,H.U.D.,,,,,the list goes on and on.So don't you say the government doesn't help the poor minorities when the poor minorities rarely do anything to help themselves.

Enough with the race card. It's astounding to me that in the midst of a natural disaster people actually have the audacity to criticize the fact that we are getting help. The fires are STILL burning and it's almost as if you'd wish more harm on San Diego simply because you're still crying about what happened with Katrina. These are REAL people LOSING EVERYTHING! You're ignorant if you believe we're a bunch of "rich celebrity folks" here in California. That's as narrow minded as me saying every person living in New Orleans was a poor minority living off Welfare. That's a massive generalization! Grow up and shame on you! San Diego is a melting pot of diversity with people from all walks of life. We have the rich, and we have the extreme poor.

And with regard to "compensation". . . we are insured!! Katrina victims would have had "compensation" in the form of an insurance payout if they had chosen to have it instead of expecting FEMA and the government to build them new houses for free. Don't talk about something you know nothing about!

Seems to me that the people at the state and local levels in California were better prepared to deal with this disaster. New Orleans was not. The NO people got assistance but it was mishandled and not effective. Its time for the people in NO to work on the problems as other communities that were hit by Katrina have done, They were not the only people who suffered.

This is definitely not a new phenomenon. Statistics already show that the rich are getting richer and the poor continue to get poorer.
Ironically, these individuals in CA probably already have insurance coverage that will pay them out for their loses and they'll get further funding from and Administration more than willing to bestow more riches on the rich.

Oh lord, here we go again, another "ignant" idiot pulling out the racial card. As I responded to answer stupid question like this yesterday, it has to do with your own community and your own mayor, governor, the politians of that state. If you haven't noticed, San Diegans have no problem lending a helping hand to their neighbors, in New Orleans, people were lending a hand to LOOT from one another. They were stubborn to evacuate on when told too, us here in Californis listen to evacuation notices. We are a well established community whom trust and help each other. Don't hate, PLEASE don't hate and make ignorant comments, as you are nto living this nightmare like many of us. You have now been stamped as an "IGNORANT FOOL"....god bless your cold soul.

There are way too many card players in washington and they are gambling away the money, faster than the press can print and filter it through the system. It's time to take back the table from the card sharks!!!

guess they didn't have to try for 21 hours to sober Bush up this time!
he'd gone to his texas ranch for a holiday,
the day before katrina struck,
how long did it take for him to appear on national TV & say something?
21 LONG HOURS.
