Yes and you can have the dissolution of the marriage w/o a lawyer at all. Put down a list of all the assets, bills, child care arrangements ect. Both of you sign it and have it notarized. Then dissolve the marriage at the courthouse. File the paperwork that you both signed for public record and it will be official.

If you are set on getting divorced (dont stay together for the kids sake no matter what anyone tells you, it's not good for the kid in the long run) and you can both agree on everything (that part is important) then just go get one lawyer and use them together. When I got divorced we agree on everything, but on the first meeting the lawyer flat out told us that if we ever started fighting before the divorce was finalized then he wouldnt be able to represent either of us. But everything went wonderfully. So if you can keep from argueing over things until the divorce is final then just get a new lawyer for you both to use.

Yes I have. The next time that the kid's go with their Dad and you know when they will be home, say around 5pm. Call the police and tell them you want a "WELFARE CHECK" They will go to the house and "SEE" How bad it is and take a report and then they file it and you get the copy, hire a lawyer, and go to court asking for full custody with him having visitation. If you don't act now, the judge will be mad that you dont care about how there living.

If you and the soon to be ex agree on things, then TELL the lawyers what you want. After all, they work for who is paying the bill, not the other way around.

My father is a retired lawyer, he says can release both lawyers and handle the divorce yourself. You find all kinds of information online, just type in divorce.

If you both can agree on everything then you don't really need a lawyer. Or only one of you needs a lawyer (the plaintiff) to draw up the papers if you don't want to handle all of that yourselves.

Try a mediator. They're less expensive and all the decisions are made with both of you sitting with the mediator at the same time. Good luck!
