So I asked my self how the hell am I going to make this up??? Well me and my friend thought that getting my GED was just as good. I just want to go to cosmetology school so whats the big deal? Well my dad has already told me im never going to amount to nothing = ( and he says that his dream is to see me get my high school diploma. I just dont know what to do. Any advice?

there is nothing wrong at all about wanting to go into cosmetology school, i have seen many very successful people who have gone into that type of work plus it is very rewarding so ignore the comments from john4938 as it is something to be proud of he obviously hasn't got a clue and knows nothing about it.

Ignore what your Dad says if you want to do something you can do it. It doesnt matter if its your dad's dream to see you get your high school diploma, it's what you want that counts.

If you can't go back into school and have to get homeschooled then do that ignore what people say if you happy having it like that thats all that matters and whatever you go into after school is YOUR choice whether others like it or not because it's you life and you control what happens not anyone else.

I would stick with the instruction from your Homebound instructor from your school district or maybe try Cyber School which is public school if you have a computer at home.

The GED is not easy.

I am sorry that your dad said that to you. Obviously, that is not true as you would not be interested getting your GED or HS Diploma if you didn't care.

Is that all you want to amount to in life is a cosmetologist? Is that the sort of example you want to set for you children when/if you have them? Do you care about your education or are you looking for a free ride in life?

I don't mean these questions to be harsh, but you have to look at your future down the road and what you want it to be. People always say that you should just do what makes you happy and find the career that best suits you. That's all fine and dandy, but the reality of it is that you have to pay the bills, you are going to want certain things in life, and you are going to have to work hard to get them. I have seen people get their GED and go on to lead very successful lifes, and I have seen some that have their GED and are next to poor.

As far as your dad being that negative, well that's the spoils of being a parent and trying to do the best they can. As a parent myself, I want my son to do the best that I know he can and I will coach him, guide him, and push him as far and long as I can. But ultimately it is up to him and what he decides.

Look to the future and try and make decisions that will get you where you want to be. Set goals that are realistic and adjust them from time to time. If you believe that you are on the right path... then go that direction and show everyone that you can do it and be successful.

You dad ultimately wants whats best for you and is just looking out for your well being.
